The position applied for was online map quality analysis. The company often has scheduled review periods each month, but because the work is contract-based, there is no pay whenever there are no tasks. These gaps frequently last more than two weeks, so within less than two months there will be two weeks without any income. The salary is transferred from Ireland and takes two months to arrive, with exchange-rate differences and transfer fees deducted along the way. The company’s approach to quality reviews is somewhat strange, and the pay keeps getting lower. I really do not recommend this company.
When I first started working with them, translation fees were paid from Taiwan, regularly and without tax deductions. They suddenly announced that payments would be issued from Ireland instead. As a result, even the fees for translations completed before I ended the collaboration were held up at the bank, because I had to apply in person to convert the foreign currency into New Taiwan dollars.
From management down to the rank and file, they employed many useless people (a great many Indians). The translations were often laughably bad, and each branch had its own chaotic practices and job-assignment system. The new system they pushed was even harder to use. You effectively spent two-thirds of your time dealing with problems within their company, and internally they would secretly report their own problems as poor cooperation or a bad attitude on your part.
The senior manager for the Asia region was an uncultured woman in Beijing who only knew how to write very long emails. I suppose those qualities were probably the basic requirements for staying at this company, right?
In fact, a quick online search would show that their reputation overseas is extremely poor. I initially tried working with them only because I thought a large international company would be more reasonable, but it turned out I was completely wrong.
