At first, after reading the reviews of this place, I really didn’t dare to go to the interview. Later, I thought I might as well go and take a look. As it turned out, the current situation seems to differ from the reviews. First of all, the office is very large and located in the Far Eastern Science Park, so the environment is quite good. Also, it seems that all of the previous managers have been replaced? I didn’t see the supposedly less friendly female manager either. The person who conducted the interview seemed to be the new owner or a new manager. The questions generally focused on why I wanted to interview for the position and whether I had a general understanding of the products the company sells. The conversation was very courteous throughout. The salary was also fairly good, and the benefits were slightly better than those required by the Labor Standards Act. Overtime is not encouraged, and the working hours are flexible; the number of days for remote work can also be discussed. The management style is friendly and non-hierarchical, with an emphasis on communication. That’s roughly my experience of the actual interview this time.

Because the company is in Xizhi, it is still a bit far for me. However, Xike Station and a bus stop are located right downstairs, making it suitable for people who are accustomed to commuting by public transportation. Aside from the distance, I think everything else is quite good, although I ultimately chose a job with a slightly lower salary that is closer to home.

The office is fairly clean.

As soon as you join, they ask you to propose plans for the next fiscal year. How are you supposed to plan when you don’t even understand the products yet?

There are very few people in the office. During working hours, the only voice in the office is that of a female supervisor, making the atmosphere very tense.

No one leaves at the end of the workday. Leaving on time feels as if it’s not appropriate.

The male supervisor is very open-minded.

The company pays very generously, but you also need to be able to handle the responsibilities that come with it.

1. You cannot eat breakfast at the company.

2. During the pandemic, you had to wear your mask properly at all times. If you were caught taking it off to drink water and accidentally failed to put it back on, you would be reprimanded.

3. Apart from one female supervisor who speaks relatively loudly, the office is eerily quiet.

4. The guards downstairs are very close with the supervisors. You can obtain information from them, but you also need to be careful because you may be monitored; it is best not to say anything carelessly.

5. You cannot make even the slightest mistake. Once you make the same mistake more than once, you may face dismissal. (Someone in planning was once dismissed after just one day because they spent too long eating breakfast.)

6. The end of the workday is very vague. Even when the designated time arrives, no one seems ready to leave.

7. You are expected to learn to ask about things you would not have thought were problems; otherwise, the female supervisor will blame you for not asking. (How were you supposed to know that was a problem too???)

During the interview, the interviewer did mention the salary to me.

The manager seemed like a nice person and had many ideas about the company’s plans.

Because of the previous marketing strategy, the places where the products were listed were rather strange.

Therefore, the company is now integrating its efforts to focus on the B2C e-commerce business.

The product seems to be quite well-known in Japan and Hong Kong; it just hasn’t taken off in Taiwan yet.

It feels like there is a lot of potential, but it will also be a major challenge.

The company is very small, apparently with fewer than 10 employees.

There seem to be only one or two senior executives. The owner is very generous with money and is not in Taiwan, but the person who pays the salaries is presumably in Taiwan, right? Based on this reasoning, it seems that aside from the owner, the person managing the money is probably the most senior person.

The company expects employees to be able to hit the ground running. Ideally, you should be able to take over the work and planning and execute them as soon as you start.

They say that complying with the Labor Standards Act is the basic requirement, but when overtime pay came up, they did not give a direct answer (they only said that if your work ability is good enough, you won’t need to work overtime or something like that—which is just stating the obvious, isn’t it?).

It’s not even an important position, yet they said there would be a second interview. The main point is that they didn’t even mention the salary during the first interview, and there’s no way to know whether the salary listed on 104 is true. Most importantly, this position has been posted on 104 for quite some time, which makes the turnover rate seem relatively high.

I later asked a friend in the same industry, who said the company’s performance was very poor, its products were too expensive to sell, and they had only just been removed from his store. There were also many gray-market goods, and the company had little in the way of systems or procedures. He even advised me not to join under any circumstances. What a waste of my time interviewing.

(Marketing position)

1. The job responsibilities were explained very clearly, and the salary and benefits were also mentioned.

2. During the interview, I heard other employees chatting, which made it feel like a happy work environment.

3. For fresh graduates or job seekers who are genuinely interested in pursuing a career in marketing, this is a great learning opportunity. The company carries out and manages integrated online and offline platforms and activities, and the supervisor also indicated that they are very willing to provide guidance.

They say they’ll discuss it at the second interview?? It’s not even an important position. What’s so secretive??
