Pros

A bento lunch costing no more than $130 after three months

Heard this from a colleague

A client owed money for reviewing their books, but the boss took the job anyway, worried that the employees might be too bored

The boss is very wealthy and said he makes several million from stocks

But perhaps he was worried that I had too much money with nowhere to spend it, so he wanted to cut my salary

Cons

I clearly stated during the interview that I had no experience with bookkeeping.

The accountant said it was not a problem, that a supervisor would teach me, and that the salary was completely fine as well.

He also said that their firm's work was very stable, that he had excellent connections, and that they were not short of money.

But on the third day, he suddenly said that because I did not know how to do bookkeeping,

I could not take over the work of the person who had resigned, so they had to cut my salary.

Moreover, on my first day, he introduced me to everyone at the firm as someone with experience,

and then got my surname wrong and also misstated the company I had previously worked for.

I realized that the interview had simply been for show. What a waste of time.

As for the work environment, we were not allowed to eat breakfast at work.

The accounting system had no scanning function; everything was on paper.

There were piles of receipts, and the desk had to be tidied up spotless before leaving work.

The receipts had to be kept at our workstations, which were very cramped.

Also, after working there for only a few days, I heard colleagues or supervisors talking about the accountant's shortcomings.

They said he only signed documents and made them handle everything else themselves.

I really feel that the firm has not gone under only because of these long-serving employees.

Pros

None

Cons

This is the first time I've encountered a company that is this blunt.

They offered a salary of 28,000, and when I asked what benefits they had, they shamelessly said directly: “Unlike ordinary companies, we don't have that many benefits.”

They told me in advance that there would be an overwhelming amount of overtime. Overtime pay is only provided from January to May. You only become eligible for a bonus after working for three years, and the bonus is an additional three months' salary, minus your overtime pay (meaning the total amount stays the same: they give you 15 months' worth of salary, including overtime pay, but the hours you work overtime will definitely exceed the value of that salary). There are no holiday benefits for the three major festivals. It feels extremely exploitative.

Even if you have relevant work experience, you still have to take an exam when joining the company.

Pros

None at the moment

Cons

As an accounting firm, it falsely reports its own income, and when it comes to employees’ salaries, it says one thing and does another. It violates various regulations and yet acts as though it is perfectly justified.
