Pros

I went to interview for an international trade sales position last week. The office is in an office building near the Far Eastern Plaza on Dunhua South Road. The company deals in food ingredients and pet food, and is currently a very popular supplier for pet food brands. However, its main distribution market for food products is mainland China, while its exports primarily consist of apparel and raw materials, mainly from mainland China and South America. The Taiwan office mainly handles communications and foreign import/export affairs. The company looks very simple and modern, though I’m not sure how things will turn out. I also hope I pass the interview and get hired!

Cons

I’m looking forward to the interview results.

Pros

A waste of time

Cons

The manager got the interview time wrong. When I arrived at the company at the scheduled interview time that day, I was immediately questioned about whether I had gone to the wrong building and was left outside. The first impression was already terrible. Later, I showed the employees the interview notification, but they still seemed skeptical. The manager or HR representative who arranged the interview had remembered the wrong time and thought my interview was the previous day, even though I only received the interview notification the day before and replied in the message, “See you tomorrow.” This was already ridiculous. After I went inside, the manager who was originally supposed to interview me was not there. Instead, another manager or the owner’s associate came to speak with me. Throughout the conversation, they barely seemed to listen to what I was saying. I mentioned the duties from my previous company three times, yet they asked at least twice what I did. It felt terrible. I understand that they may not be familiar with my professional field, but I came to the interview seriously; the least they could do was listen to me properly, right? I initially thought I would let it go since at least the conversation had ended. The manager also proactively told me that they would arrange another interview with the other manager who was originally supposed to interview me, and properly explain the job responsibilities and other details. However, nearly a week passed without any calls or messages. At first, I thought they might have forgotten, but by that point I already felt the whole situation was absurd. Then today, I went on the recruitment website and discovered that the company had viewed my résumé again today. I was completely stunned. It seemed they had no intention of contacting me. Overall, it felt like I had been scammed. I traveled a long way to get there, only to be treated this way before even entering the company. After reading other people’s reviews, I realized it was actually fortunate that they never contacted me. Even if they do contact me, I will not go back.

Pros

Originally applied for an overseas sales position, but due to the pandemic, started in domestic market marketing and sales instead.

A supplier to domestic hypermarket importers, working for a New Zealand dairy products branch, with a position that required frequent business trips. Brands that can be seen in hypermarkets. It may be somewhat demanding, but I learned a lot and am still quite grateful to the company.

Cons

The pandemic was uncooperative, so I worked even harder!

Pros

In 2016, I found the company, a New Zealand company with an online presence, online and interviewed for a position in the raw materials import department. The New Zealand general manager was from Beijing and was very straightforward and kind. The salary and allowances fully complied with New Zealand government regulations. The main reason was so that my children could also obtain eligibility for citizenship; otherwise, life in New Zealand is a bit boring. The benefits and待遇 were the best of all the places I have worked!

You’ll need to look into the following yourself:

1. First, check the company address; every unit in that building is at least 90 ping.

2. The person who notified me is a female supervisor, and the interviewer is a foreign national (I went two days ago).

3. Today I was notified and confirmed that I’ll be working for the company in New Zealand, handling e-commerce operations (I almost got harmed by the information below).

4. There aren’t many people in the company because most of them are in mainland China.

Cons

I was just happy to receive the call a moment ago and felt stunned. I don’t know whether there might be other issues, so I said you should look into it yourself.

Claims to be a long-established company that follows the Labor Standards Act in every respect, but in reality underreports labor insurance wages, requires salary slips, and then refuses to provide them. The entire office is filled with surveillance cameras, and management is extremely suspicious, constantly suspecting that people are going to steal data. During the interview, they made everything sound wonderful, but in reality there was nothing at all. Employees have to pay out of pocket for outside courses and are still mocked for lacking ability.

Pros

None at all

Cons

They call themselves a company, but completely disregard labor laws.

They take up employees’ lunch breaks and treat working them to death as a matter of course.

They change employees’ positions without warning and slack off, waiting for employees to become unable to bear it and resign on their own—effectively saving on severance pay.

When employees have concerns about the company, the husband-and-wife owners join forces to bad-mouth other employees to cover up their own mistakes.

The workplace, which is less than 30 ping and has fewer than eight employees, is filled with surveillance cameras.

I’m very happy that I successfully resigned, because they think their power in the capital is unmatched by anyone.

Before learning about the details of the job,\nthe interviewer asked why I had left my previous job.\nI replied that my supervisor played on their phone at work and did not assign tasks promptly,\nwhich led to unnecessary overtime for subordinates,\nand that the boss’s wife occupied my break time\nand did not pay overtime, among other things.\nThe interviewer immediately started scolding me,\nsaying, “How can you refuse to work overtime?\nIt is only right that you should not ask for overtime pay when working overtime.\nThe employees at their company also only work after hours;\nduring working hours, they are all slacking off.\nSo if you come work here, you must work overtime,\notherwise you are not being a team player.”\n\nThe fallacies were truly frightening.\n\nP.S. The interviewer was a middle-aged woman wearing very heavy makeup,\nwith some cracking in the powder at the outer corners of her eyes and around the corners of her mouth.

Pros

The employer is extremely disrespectful toward employees. Not only are the verbal attacks and inappropriate behavior reprehensible, but they also hire employees for their expertise and then insist on controlling and dominating their work. When the results are ineffective, they directly blame the employees. They even sow discord among employees to defend themselves. It is truly frightening!
