Pros

The interview questions were simple, but they did not reveal the candidate’s depth of knowledge.

Cons

HR kept criticizing the lack of relevance of your previous work experience,

then drastically cut your salary.

Someone with 7–8 years of R&D experience

was offered the same salary as when I was a fresh graduate.

Pros

Pretty good luck; colleagues on the same team are easy to get along with.

Cons

The boss really loves holding meetings after work. Amazing.

HR will bring you in first, but just treat the benefits and job details mentioned in the interview as reference, because they may not actually follow through. Once you join, they start squeezing extra time out of you and cutting your salary.

The parachuted-in manager only ever spouts English and constantly makes you write reports and send emails. Daily reports, weekly reports, monthly reports—reporting every single day. All your time is spent on reports.

The boss will yell at people for no reason; they have serious anger-management issues.

Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience just how stingy a company can be. Ha.

Pros

Actual operations are poor and there’s no money being made; everything is about cutting costs. But they’re very good at putting on a facade.

Cons

There’s someone in optics who claims to have a PhD but doesn’t understand anything. All they do is nitpick the fonts and colors in reports, like a complete idiot.

Cons

A lot of information must be filled out before the interview. On site, there is a math and logic test as well as a job-related examination, taking approximately 50 minutes.

The interviewer repeatedly said that my past experience did not sufficiently meet the requirements and that they needed someone who could hit the ground running. They considered my expected salary too high, even though the relevant experience had already been clearly detailed in my résumé. They only started nitpicking on site—why waste time on the interview at all?

Pros

Unlimited access to freshly ground coffee from the coffee machine

Cons

Low salary; the boss expects employees to contribute first before receiving anything in return. Overtime has become the norm in the company culture, and many departments like to shift responsibility. It depends on which department you join—some departments are quite relaxed.

The workload and job content are very different from what was described in the interview. I recommend asking for clarification before joining.

Military-style rules mean you cannot complain. Although work starts at 8:00, you may be required to arrive at 7:30 for a meeting, or attend a meeting from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. after work.

If you want to experience a disciplined lifestyle, come give it a try.

Cons

The senior female manager is inconsistent and illogical in her work, talks endlessly without getting to the point, and makes a mountain out of a molehill. Everything that is not urgent becomes urgent. She often hysterically screams and yells, and everything is the employees’ fault. She frequently asks employees to answer questions based on her own assumptions, then criticizes their answers in every unreasonable way.

Cons

1. The job duties described on the recruitment page differ quite significantly from the actual work. It is best to ask HR in advance; otherwise, it may feel like a wasted trip.

2. The job follows a responsibility-based system, meaning you need to finish your work before leaving (I did not ask whether overtime pay is provided).

3. The company expects employees to follow its way of doing things and not have too many ideas of their own. Those who are more independent-minded may want to consider this carefully.

4. The company culture feels conservative.

Personal thoughts (including personal emotions):

During the interview, I could sense that the interviewer did not care about the candidate’s background or expertise. The interviewer started by talking at length about prejudices toward that industry. Although I had initially been proactively contacted for an interview, the interviewer only slowly began reviewing my information during the actual interview, and explained that the job duties differed greatly from those described on the job posting. HR and the interviewer had not coordinated properly in advance. I felt this was quite disrespectful and a waste of time and effort, and I hope it can be improved.
