The interview process covered a huge number of topics, but the manager only asked questions unrelated to the interview and pried into my privacy. During the interview, I asked a few questions and was surprised to discover that the company still had many shortcomings and had failed to implement many things. Yet the interviewing manager acted as if they were highly professional and managed everything very well. When I finally asked about the salary, they were evasive and said they could not guarantee a 14-month salary. After seeing my salary expectations, they even tried to haggle with me. It felt like a traditional manufacturing company at heart rather than a technology company, one that only wants to pay peanuts to hire monkeys. In the end, nothing came of it; even if I were offered the job, I would not want to go.

Pros

If you don’t have a good job in the tech industry in Taiwan, you can choose to come here to gain experience. Although the pay is a little lower, you can’t even earn NT$60,000 in Taiwan, and the company there is also terrible.

Here, you can earn around NT$60,000 and may even become a supervisor. Just think about it: you, who were a nobody in Taiwan, suddenly become a supervisor managing Burmese and Thai employees. Wow, all that confidence comes rushing back.

Cons

Experience sharing — employment period: 2025/9–2025/12

This company doesn’t pay well but wants talent equivalent to people working 24 hours a day at TSMC. I suggest you still don’t come here.

There are no systems, no reason, authoritarian senior management, factional infighting, a lack of talent, heavy responsibilities, and leave that you cannot take.

Interview with HR and the supervisor

GA interview (whether you have this interview depends on whether your salary request is high; the average salary is NT$60,000–70,000, including the overseas assignment allowance)

The benefits are very poor. Regarding the salary structure: if you negotiate a salary of NT$70,000, 30% of it is an overseas assignment allowance. So the base salary is NT$49,000 plus an overseas assignment bonus of NT$21,000.

Taiwan pays the minimum base salary of NT$28,XXX (because they don’t want to pay the 6% labor insurance contribution for you). The rest is paid to you in Thai baht.

The working environment is extremely poor. They verbally promise you lots of vacation, but in practice, because of the nature of MES and staffing issues, you will never be able to take it.

Normal working hours are 8:00–18:00, but if you leave at 18:00, your supervisor will chew you out (my Burmese colleagues and I were privately criticized many times). On my fourth day, I left around 8:00 p.m. every day but was still privately messaged and scolded. Basically, everyone leaves at 9:00 p.m. because the Chinese support team also leaves at that time.

Even after work, you cannot relax and go out, nor can you sleep peacefully at night, because the number of reported problems will crush you.

Think about it: ten people solve the production-line problems during the day, but there is only one person at night. Of those ten people, only two have software development skills. For the others, they rely on Burmese employees, who specialize in MIS and cannot even write SQL.

So do you really feel at ease after work? I have developed the habit of checking my phone immediately whenever it rings, no matter where I am. Even while eating dinner, you have to take out your computer and connect through VPN to help.

To put it bluntly, I woke up in the middle of the night an average of four times a week, sometimes even more. The supervisor even changed his working hours to 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. because of this (the supervisor really keeps track of how many times you wake up—I was frightened when I was called in for a discussion).

Also, the work schedule includes working every other Saturday, but this was not mentioned during the interview. You only find out after arriving. They make it sound good by saying you can rotate shifts. You really can rotate shifts, but what the supervisor means is that you can take leave whenever nothing is happening (think about what that really means).

The final reason I resigned was that I could not continue providing work support at any time after getting off work, or remain on standby during holidays instead of being able to take proper time off.

During the final meeting, the supervisor said: “I know this place is different from your previous job, but this is our current situation. We are understaffed, the plant is large, and we need someone to help maintain and operate the production line. The Burmese and Thai colleagues’ technical skills are not sufficient, so either you get up or I get up to deal with it. Can you accept that? If not, leave.”

The supervisor is very authoritarian, but also the type who does not say things directly. For example, at nearly 8:00 p.m. on my first day, I said I had dinner plans with a friend and asked whether I could leave early. I confirmed twice, and he said, “Sure, no problem.” But on the fourth day, he angrily asked me why I had left early (I have screenshots documenting everything and can email them to you if you want to see them).

The New Year holiday is a very important holiday in Thailand, equivalent to the New Year holiday elsewhere. However, based on past experience, colleagues said that their leave requests had been approved, but when they actually took the holiday, they were emotionally pressured afterward.

He also required the Burmese colleagues to work at the new plant. They only raised two concerns: 1. meal arrangements (because there is nothing nearby); and 2. transportation—the commute from their accommodation to the new plant takes 40 minutes (they also have to work overnight shifts and ride along roads without streetlights, so they could be hit and killed without anyone knowing). But the supervisor coldly said, “If you don’t want to go, submit your resignation.”

This year’s situation will be even more severe. In the past, there was only one plant, and it was already this busy. Now the second plant has opened, on a larger scale, as everyone knows from the news. But they cannot recruit enough people (the pay is too low, yet they want people to work in a TSMC-style mode).

What’s amusing about this company is that factional infighting is extremely serious. It is a family-owned company, with the Xiao Lin president faction, the Da Lin president faction, the Jiang president faction, the xxx vice president faction, and so on. If you align yourself with the right faction, you can even use your own influence in a group chat of 100 people to directly curse out an entire department.

Another amusing thing about this company, besides the salary, is that there are various strange amounts that make your payslip impossible to understand every month (I have records that can be provided for reference). For example, your meal allowance is NT$5,000. They pay it to you as part of your salary, but you have to transfer the money back, in your personal name, to President Xiao Lin’s personal account (I’m not entirely sure why they do this. Do you know? Leave a comment and share your thoughts???).

Thailand’s personal income tax is high. Taiwan has a tax-free allowance, but Thailand does not. Therefore, meal expenses, shuttle fees, and accommodation expenses are all counted as your personal income, so a lot of money is deducted invisibly.

Those of you in the tech industry probably understand what on-call means: it is based on a genuine system incident that requires your support at unpredictable times, but it should not happen often (otherwise, what kind of terrible code did you write!? So many bugs).

But this is no longer merely on-call. When you know there is a 90% chance you will have to wake up to handle problems that night, it should basically be considered being online. However, if they tell you to work the night shift, you will stop coming to work, so they deceive you by calling it on-call. In reality, it is even more exhausting than TSMC.

The supervisor also constantly uses emotional and moral pressure to manipulate people. Feel free to message me privately with questions.

So that everyone does not get deceived (none of these issues were mentioned during my interview), feel free to email me with questions: [email protected]

I will answer everything I know and will not deceive or conceal anything.

A manager claiming to be from the Taichung headquarters said during the interview that leave for managerial positions would be restricted. If you didn’t give a sufficiently servile answer, they would suddenly change their attitude and say you weren’t suitable??

Cons

The work atmosphere is very bad. They try to drive new employees to the breaking point. New employees are seen as a threat by the old-timers, who try to set traps for them.

The procurement veterans are highly politicized, factional, and divided into rival camps. The department is not united and only knows how to curry favor with managers (most importantly, the managers really love and enjoy all kinds of ways of being “flattered”). Then, externally, they only know how to attack and undermine other departments or newcomers. You can learn a lot from all of the above!

Cons

Think twice before acting; otherwise, it will become a stain on your life.

I worked here several years ago and was abused for several months!!

Some department managers at the Xindian location take long, very comfortable breaks, frequently using official business as an excuse to go out and handle personal matters.

The old hands enjoy high salaries while browsing Dcard and PTT at work.

They dump all the work on newcomers, who work themselves to death and can never finish the overtime every day.

At this company, those who have it easy really have it easy, while those who are worked hard are worked extremely hard.

Cons

Poor.

The interview starts with a test covering personality, logic, circuits, and English. Completing the entire test takes about an hour. The hiring manager conducts the interview, and the HR department calls the next day to explain some of the company’s policies. A week later, they inform you of the salary and ask whether you intend to join.

Cons

The salary could be a little higher.

Cons

I have no complaints about the company, but I do have complaints about the department I belong to.

My position was an overseas assignment in China in the Q department, which handles contract manufacturing for headphones.

The supervisor treats subordinates the way the Chinese Communist Party treats Taiwan: using verbal attacks and military threats, adopting a high-handed and oppressive stance, and showing no respect for subordinates' opinions.

The demands are unrealistic. To put it figuratively, it is like being asked to use third-rate ingredients to cook a five-star meal.

Overall, the supervisor does not think about what they say when dealing with subordinates; they say whatever they want and, when making demands, only care about how good it feels to say them.

The targets set are higher than the sky. We work from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, the pay is pitifully low, and the overseas assignment pays less than 60K.

People who like being managed in a high-pressure manner will find this very suitable. You are not allowed to have your own thoughts or opinions, which is a perfect fit for the personality of someone who follows orders!

Cons

Typical Taiwanese manufacturing-industry thinking—quite a "great" company!
