Pros

None, really none

Cons

During the interview, they only asked me to fill out an application form and conducted a thorough background investigation. I applied for an online marketing position involving social media operations, yet they completely ignored my portfolio—there wasn't even a place to upload it. I don't know why the chairman interviewed me. I wanted to send my portfolio, so I even added the chairman on LINE. When asking about benefits, HR wouldn't proactively explain anything; I had to ask about every detail.

Pros

None, really none. Don’t tempt fate—you’ll regret it, just like I regret it now.

Cons

1. No overtime pay, only compensatory leave

2. Manager A has poor emotional control and frequently yells and roars at people

3. Manager B is very good at setting traps for you to fall into

4. Poor work allocation—for example, people on Project A are asked to support Project B, people on Project C are asked to support Project A, people on Project B are asked to support Project D, and so on

Really, none

Cons

The vice president was condescending during the interview.

The questions asked were astonishing.

I was asked to name what your company does.

After I answered, they still said, "That's it? Shouldn't you have a good understanding of our company since you're interviewing here? Didn't you do any research?"

Pros

The Kaohsiung office is very beautiful, that's all.

Cons

I applied for a position in online marketing, including social media, but after joining, I ended up doing sales and administrative work. The job posting on 104 clearly did not describe these responsibilities, so there was often a mismatch in information between both sides. I actually had three supervisors: a southern-region sales supervisor, a Hsinchu sales supervisor, and a Hsinchu marketing supervisor. At first, I thought it would be a marketing role and that the company wanted to transform and pursue a startup-like direction, but its practices were rigid and inflexible. Although I was not the meeting recorder, I was asked to submit the minutes the next day, even though that day's meeting was already at the stage where both parties had discussed a partnership. In short, if you want a job in online marketing, don't come here. You will be doing sales and administrative work. When I asked whether the Kaohsiung office would hire administrative or sales staff, I was only told that the team would be expanded, but I kept handling sales-related matters. Online marketing is marketing, not sales!!! I really feel deceived!!! I feel extremely deceived, and it feels terrible!!! On top of that, to understand the information, I actually had to ask all three supervisors!! HR said that my direct supervisor was the southern-region sales supervisor, but the two supervisors in Hsinchu also kept interfering. I found it really confusing. In short, it was genuinely chaotic—an unbelievably chaotic kind of chaos. The Kaohsiung office clearly had no intention of hiring a supervisor, sales staff, or administrative staff, so the Kaohsiung office was both chaotic and misleading. If you want to work in online marketing, don't come here. I am seriously angry.

Pros

None

Really, none

Cons

1. HR clearly doesn't review your résumé and has no idea what kind of talent they are looking for

2. You show up for the interview at the agreed-upon time, but the interviewing manager isn't there

3. You set up a social platform yourself, but it has no traffic at all—it's all just asking and answering your own questions

4. When told that there are many problems with the website, they refuse to acknowledge them. The website has been running for two or three years, yet a whole host of problems still exist, while they claim that when developing software, it's impossible to find errors right away

5. The self-hosted social website has no code linking it to other major social media platforms, and Google can't find it either—is this all just for nothing?

Pros

The QA supervisor is a pretty nice person.

Cons

Later, the vice president came in for the interview, and the questions they asked made me roll my eyes into the stratosphere.

The following...

1. Nowadays, no one dares to have children, so why did you have so many?

2. You used to work in sales, and you’ve also written code. I used to write code too, and I was incredibly good at it.

I also did a fantastic job in sales. Inner voice: Were you here to show off or what?

3. How will you get to work in the future? By scooter!? You’re going to ride all the way here and still have to work? Inner voice: Even if I flew here, would I have to tell you?

4. So, how soon can you start after giving notice? The Labor Standards Act says you can start after just 10 days, so why did you write two weeks?

The list goes on and on.............Good thing I didn’t go XD

Impressions from the first-round interview at the Taipei office

Overall, it was very good. The interviewer (who would also be my future direct supervisor) was highly capable, asked very clear questions, and explained their plans for the department clearly. They were also very friendly. The company appears to provide sufficient support for the business position they are recruiting for, and they were able to answer all of my questions.

Cons

If I really had to mention something, the résumé form that HR requires interviewees to fill out—although it is a very advanced electronic form—contains the kind of personal-background investigation you would expect from 20 years ago. The form even asks whether you are willing to work overtime; if you select that you are unwilling, you have to provide a reason, otherwise you cannot submit it.

HR was the only drawback of this interview.
