Waited nearly an hour for the interview

Asking for a salary above what they have approved will result in an interview with the general manager

Basically, I don't need to say much more, right? It's just a self-propelled cannon firing wildly

After being hired, tell HR directly

I don't like your general manager. Bye

Pros

There is a restaurant downstairs, making it convenient to get meals, and a parking lot upstairs. Since parking is prohibited along the red lines outside, the office is said to have an American-style layout, and the year-end banquet is held at the Premier Restaurant in the Southern Taiwan Science Park.

Cons

The boss and general manager graduated from National Cheng Kung University, and the employees they recruit are required to have graduated from a national university. The weekly meetings are like meetings with a graduate-school advisor. What is this about not having lunch? His temper is very bad and he is harsh toward engineers; when signing official documents, employees have to stand in line outside the office.

What I found by Googling online was almost entirely accurate. The general manager has a very poor attitude toward employees and rudely berates new graduates right from the start. Engineers have meetings from morning until afternoon on Thursdays and do not even take a lunch break. It is a very strange system. The stock price is extremely low, and the company does not make much money; even what it does earn, it is stingy about sharing with employees.

You deserve a better company; don't be foolish enough to come here just to level up.

The people at the top think they take great care of their employees, but in reality, it's faith that's holding everything together.

Not as good as going to the competitor: HIWIN Technologies Corp.; its stock is almost NT$500.

Pros

For newcomers, you can learn quite a bit of practical knowledge (not necessarily professional knowledge).

You also develop stress tolerance (!?)

Relationships among colleagues are pretty good; I haven't heard of anyone stabbing others in the back.

Overtime pay is paid in full as recorded (on-site positions only).

Cons

You can find the drawbacks on Google; what’s said there probably isn’t too far off.

Since the upper management comes from a hardware background, those doing this kind of work should be mentally prepared before joining (remember to fasten your helmet and bulletproof vest tightly).

Software roles are relatively more relaxed.

Also, don’t set your expectations too high for the salary. It’s probably around 12 months of salary plus a one-month year-end bonus, although someone has received as little as 6K for the year-end bonus~

The stock price soared in 2017, but the distribution didn’t really change.

As for the reviews.........

I’ve only heard from a friend that this place is a lot like a vocational training center (!?)

The HR department has almost no HR expertise whatsoever; even if newcomers join with the mindset of honing their skills, it is useless.

The administration department can hardly report any overtime. Be careful—what is said in the interview may differ from the actual contract.

Their recruiting practices are also behind the times and excessively penny-pinching; the pay is almost always terrible.

You have to pay an employee welfare fee to get a discount on lunch, and the meals are boxed set dishes like those served at elementary and middle schools.

Frontline technical staff have high turnover and low pay, while the supervisors are overly self-important.

What left a deep impression was how they initially tactfully said that no one could be hired at this salary.

The manager says that if you are willing to work overtime, overtime pay is not an issue (but basically, you have to work overtime like crazy).

You would be better off working as a technician at any well-known tech company.

On Wednesday, March 8 this year, the entire plant had its electricity and water shut off for high-voltage electrical maintenance. Employees were notified to take a day off or adjust their leave, and all employees had one day deducted from their annual leave. The same thing happened when a typhoon came last year. I really do not recommend this company.

Teaches you submissiveness

Cons

If you’re thinking of applying for the R&D alternative military service, think twice. If you’re thinking of applying for the R&D alternative military service, think twice. If you’re thinking of applying for the R&D alternative military service, think twice.

(It’s very important, so I’ll say it three times.)

Based on the job description:

1. Motor driver design (analog and digital circuits)

2. PCB layout

3. Responsible for safety regulations and production matters

4. Complete tasks assigned by supervisors

.

In simple conclusion:

1. It feels like the motor itself isn’t the main focus; the hardware driver is.

2. PCB layout doesn’t involve any layout at all. They want you to develop hardware circuits instead. (If you’re looking for a layout position, you can leave now.)

3. Safety regulations and such were not discussed clearly in the interview. In short, they just want you to be careful not to make mistakes.

4. Train you to be submissive.

.

Working hours: 8:30–18:00 (I don’t know why, but it’s simply longer than at other companies.) I heard it’s a responsibility-based system.

You only get a year-end bonus if you have achievements, so please work hard (?) (Probably just a few thousand dollars extra.) (Don’t expect to get several months’ worth.)

They won’t care much about your areas of expertise. They’ll simply tell you to come in and learn along the way.

You’d better be able to keep up; otherwise, you’ll be nailed to the wall. There’s one meeting every week.

I heard that most of the people there graduated from national universities (because they only mentioned national universities when comparing me with them), and there’s also a foreigner.

They emphasize that you need at least beginner-level English proficiency (a hidden requirement not mentioned on 104).

They emphasize that you need to have a motorcycle and a driver’s license (also not mentioned on 104).

Then they told me that an employee chose to walk to work.

So what’s the logic behind emphasizing the driver’s license above?

As long as I can get to work, whether I have a license should be secondary, right?

Then there was the back-and-forth about the salary.

At one point they asked whether I had interviews with other companies,

and then they asked whether I could come for a second interview.

They gave me absolutely no opportunity to consider it.

The impression they gave was, “You’re still comparing us with other companies? Then I don’t really want you.”

In the end, they offered around NT$40,000 (but that was my minimum; in Taipei, I could easily get more than this anywhere, without all the hassle).

Finally, the receptionist had a very unpleasant expression.

If I had to rate this company out of 10, I could only give it 1 point.

The questions in the interview were basically just looking for faults.

The salary was first said to require the supervisor’s decision, and then they said they didn’t know.

Simply put, this job is making fixtures (circuit boards) for motor drives.

They’re functional circuits used for testing, but they described them as something incredibly grandiose.

I was speechless. Just because others don’t know or aren’t familiar with something doesn’t mean you can treat them like idiots and tell them to their face that they have no ability and are a blank slate.

If a national university offers a curriculum covering fixtures, motor control, and related manufacturing processes during the study period,

please let me know. I’ll go take a look.

I don’t know what counts as qualified.

My own areas of expertise include PCB layout, power electronics, C programming, and motor control.

By the way, power electronics was not mentioned at all. Their company doesn’t use DXP either, and motor control isn’t really the focus.

That’s about it.

Oh, I still have to mention this: the receptionist had a very unpleasant expression.

That’s all for my review.

This company has absolutely no recruitment system!!

Because the company is in the Southern Taiwan Science Park and close to home, I submitted my résumé two or three times after graduation. Each time, not long after submitting it, I received a similar response:

“Thank you for your interest in our xxx position, but we are still in the evaluation stage and are currently unable to respond to you...” or something along those lines. After that, I figured there was probably no chance and that I wouldn’t get an interview opportunity...

Then, suddenly, on the morning of 2017/1/4, I received a notification on 104 saying that they wanted to invite me to interview for the “Procurement Assistant” position and asking me to call them back if I was interested..... I called, and someone from HR answered. She said she had a lot of things on hand at the moment and asked me to leave my mobile number first, saying that she would stay in touch. But now, two months have passed..... and there is still no follow-up about scheduling an interview!!!! The position keeps being updated on 104—is it really better to attract even more résumés?
