Pros

You don’t have to clock in or out when commuting to and from work; that’s probably the only thing that could be considered an advantage.

Cons

1. During the interview, they went on and on, and I also had to take a pointless aptitude test without knowing what it was for. It took a long time, and HR did indeed come across as frivolous.

2. A week after the interview, HR called me to tell me the start date and asked me to request an offer, saying it would go through the process. However, they later contacted me by email and phone, with HR then explaining that the start date mentioned in the first call was only intended to confirm my “willingness to accept the position” and did not mean I had actually been hired. They said they would ask the supervisor again whether they wanted to hire someone. At that point, I felt this company was completely absurd. This was the first time I had encountered HR calling to notify me of a start date while refusing to issue an offer first, and then later explaining that they only wanted to confirm my willingness to accept the position.

3. During my first two days on the job, my colleagues in the department clearly did not want to train me. Every work-related matter was explained in a disjointed way. On the first day, they even told me to look through the computer and the materials at hand on my own. If it was my first day and I only knew where the restroom was, what computer materials was I supposed to look at—especially if I couldn’t understand the content? On top of that, I was treated in a very unfriendly manner from time to time. They neither knew how to train new employees nor wanted to train them; they only blamed new employees for not figuring things out on their own and for not searching through and comparing the materials on the desk themselves. I asked a colleague whether that was the correct way to do it. They said it was not. After going back and forth four or five times, they finally said, “Sorry, the first way was correct.” Also, everyone in the office communicates through LINE. No matter what you ask, you generally have to use LINE, and you do not get an answer immediately. A single matter may be delayed, resulting in very poor work efficiency. Their way of training newcomers and their attitude completely go against what is normal in other companies and industries. They only assume that the new employee is not good enough, while supervisors simply believe the veterans. In addition, the turnover in various internal departments appears to be very high; new employees may suddenly show up, or the company may suddenly start recruiting on 104.

4. When I went through the resignation procedures, the department supervisor merely said, “Go hand things over to your colleagues,” and showed no interest in hearing the reason for my resignation. I simply left.

Conclusion: OK Mart is not OK. Don’t submit your résumé or go to an interview, so you don’t waste your time or go down the wrong path.

Pros

Complies with the Labor Standards Act; colleagues and supervisors are very nice (in our area).

Cons

The tasks assigned by upper management increase year after year, while performance targets get higher every quarter.

Personnel changes are frequent, the turnover rate among part-time workers is high, and we often cannot recruit full-time employees.

The company’s senior management is conservative: everything is launched last, and they cut costs and refuse to change anything.

The hardware is outdated and has been pushed to its limits by Shopee. The servers go down every day, and the store is always piled high with Shopee packages. Even customers feel sorry for us, but they still send packages here because we have a contract with Shopee offering the cheapest shipping fees.

Are there any?

Cons

The HR representative’s surname is Hung, presumably the recruitment lady mentioned earlier. She put on airs and was indifferent, clearly just trying to get you to come in for an interview to meet her performance targets. She had me take a bunch of useless aptitude tests—what a load of crap!

The entire interview ended in less than five minutes. I felt disrespected; only sending the thank-you letter was efficient.....

Pros

1. The company has air conditioning every day at work

Cons

1. Senior executives always have a second-place mentality, yet still think highly of themselves.

2. Newcomers are always working overtime, while supervisors still demand that they not work overtime (meaning they expect you to find a way to take the work home and do it yourself).

3. The head office is located in the basement, and it leaks when it rains.

4. Some departments have high turnover, and people are perpetually unclear about what is going on.

Pros

No advantages

Cons

※ The recruiter’s attitude was quite flippant. From the initial phone contact, they were incoherent, and I also had to wait a long time after arriving on site.

※ They asked me to sign a “blank” salary form in advance without consulting my opinion. It was as if the company could write on the payslip that I only received 22K today, and because I had signed it beforehand, it would mean that I accepted it?

※ They took the résumé I had brought with me without my consent. This was extremely unprofessional. (The résumé was on the desk on my side—how could they be so rough as to just take it without asking?)

※ They stated outright that there was no overtime pay, with astonishing audacity.

Pros

Low customer volume; more relaxed than 7-Eleven.

Cons

There’s not much future, and there are no promotion opportunities. Don’t be lured in by the title of management trainee—it’s just a high-level part-time worker position.
