Pros

Communication during the interview was fairly smooth.

The basic benefits were generally provided.

Cons

The explanations about the company’s rules were very vague.

There was also no detailed explanation after joining.

Neither the store manager nor the assistant store manager had a separate contact method.

If you wanted to request leave, you had to wait for a coworker to be at the store to answer the phone.

You had to provide your own shoes, and there was only one uniform. When leaving the job, you were also required to have it professionally laundered.

Compared with other Japanese-style restaurants, it fell short.

Also, please have people who actually know how to teach train employees.

Don’t casually assign a part-time worker who has merely been there a long time to train newcomers.

Knowing how to do something and knowing how to teach it are two different things.

Pros

The reasons I would recommend it: at least the HR representative was very straightforward with me. She also said that they would not mind what kind of work you had done before and that everyone was welcome to come for an interview and learn more. If you decide to work at Saizeriya, there will be a second interview. The HR representative said it would include an interview with a Japanese manager and a written test, so you definitely need to prepare.

They also provided a small pizza for interviewees to eat.

Cons

The salary has increased to NT$29,500, but it is still only this amount when the perfect-attendance and education allowances are included. The HR representative was also very straightforward in saying that you would be transferred to stores anywhere in Taiwan and would definitely have to work overtime. They are also working toward arranging days off according to the number of red-letter days on the calendar. Transportation expenses are fully reimbursed when using public transportation, but not when commuting by motorcycle.

(Currently, Saizeriya’s southernmost location is in Taoyuan and its northernmost is in Tamsui. If you are transferred to Tamsui or Taoyuan, they say there will be dormitory accommodation, but you still have to pay rent and utilities. The rent seems to be around NT$1,000–2,000, with utilities charged separately.)

You still have to learn both front- and back-of-house operations.

Pros

HR said overtime pay will definitely be provided.

Desserts will be served at the briefing.

Cons

HR stated outright that overtime is definitely required—over 200 hours per month.

The base salary, attendance bonus, and education allowance together come to only 27K. You have to learn both front- and back-of-house work.
