Pros

None

Cons

1. The supervisor lacks vision and foresight, and requires people to complete even office chores or tasks unrelated to their work.

2. The workplace culture can make people very uncomfortable. If you bring professional expertise, you will not be able to fully utilize it because the supervisor cannot accept other people's ideas or opinions.

3. The supervisor interacts based on their mood: when they are in a good mood, work goes smoothly; when they are in a bad mood, they will even scold you for walking past to go to the restroom.

4. They say they want to discuss things, but in reality they expect you to figure everything out yourself. If you make a mistake, they ask why you did not ask—but if you ask, they say you should have known better.

(Not everyone understands forklift-parts concepts.)

5. The culture is still very feudal. Anyone with rank treats themselves like an emperor, while subordinates are expected to be lowly and obedient.

6. A former colleague had suicidal behavior after falling out with the supervisor. The supervisor's attitude was that the other person must have been mentally ill to attempt suicide.

If you are coming for an interview, please consider whether you can accept the company's long-term culture. The year-end bonus is not substantial and has remained at about one month's pay for a long time. More highly professional people should not join, because my team leader is not a designer but is required to evaluate nonprofessional performance, and gives ratings based on personal feelings. If you are passionate about doing your job well, do not interview here—the culture will bury your professional abilities.

Pros

1. Most colleagues are very nice.

2. In accordance with the Labor Standards Act—for example, overtime is paid, provided that overtime is reported. Supervisors generally sign off on overtime forms. Overtime is calculated according to the Labor Standards Act, and holidays follow government announcements. Once the overtime limit is reached (40 hours), overtime work is prohibited.

3. The benefits are the same as those listed on recruitment websites. Menstrual leave, annual leave, personal leave, and sick leave are available. The provision of leave and salary calculation during leave follow the Labor Standards Act. There is a birthday gift voucher (NT$500 for PX Mart) and a domestic travel subsidy of around NT$6,000 (the amount varies somewhat each year).

4. Employee lunch is provided; employees pay NT$15 per meal. However, there is no subsidy if you choose to eat outside.

Cons

1. The environment is poor. There is a lot of dust on-site, and the office of one department is very old, with wooden floors. When the machinery downstairs is operating and vibrating, the office feels like it is undergoing an earthquake.

2. The starting salary is low: NT$25,000 for university graduates in office positions, with further reductions for those without a university degree; on-site positions pay NT$28,000–29,000. There is basically little hope of a raise or promotion. If there is a raise, it is usually around NT$1,000 at a time (but you may have to wait several years). Even mid- and senior-level managers earn only around NT$50,000 per month, so salaries are generally low.

3. Mid- and senior-level managers lack vision and tend to avoid confronting problems. They do not understand frontline operations, and the policies they issue change constantly.

4. Departments shift blame and shirk responsibility, and employees are often assigned inexplicable tasks.

5. Japanese in appearance but Taiwanese at its core: very few of the benefits and systems typically associated with Japanese companies are actually provided, while there are plenty of the undesirable, unspoken rules commonly found in Taiwanese companies.
