Pros

The only advantage left is probably that the security guard is really nice. That’s it.

Cons

A terrible family business. A few employees, simply because they are relatives or close associates of the people in power, constantly drop the vice president’s name in blatant or veiled threats. No matter which department you join, the actual job duties are completely different from what was described during the interview!!

Even worse, this company is stingy with its employees. Regular employees never get a chance at a raise. On top of that, there are zero benefits and no allowances or subsidies.

Everyone in the company with any seniority talks as if they have swallowed a mouthful of explosives, and newcomers are always treated as though they owe them tens of millions.

If you’ve really lost your mind, then go ahead and interview and work at this company. Otherwise, don’t waste your time trying to take on a family business.

Pros

You can learn many things beyond your own responsibilities.

Cons

The company is a family business. Below the boss (who is also the general manager) are three vice presidents: one is the boss's wife, one is the boss's wife's younger brother, and one is the boss's longtime classmate.

Good performance can lead to promotion opportunities, but promotion does not necessarily mean a pay raise. It may simply mean having many more meetings to attend. No matter how far you are promoted, you will not become part of the boss's family—there is a glass ceiling.

The company is managed according to the principle of personal discretion over the rule of law: tasks assigned directly by senior management must be given priority, even if they are unrelated to the job responsibilities discussed in the original interview. (This is also the reason behind the “pros.”)
