Sometimes IE duties are also added: quotations for introducing new products, process improvement, trial production for new product development, and assistance with various equipment and departments within the factory (the Biotechnology Section commonly supports the Individual Product Manufacturing Section, General Affairs Section, Quality Assurance customer-complaint countermeasures, Warehousing and Transportation Section, Development Section, Production Section, and occasionally work at other factories, such as the Anping Factory and Taipei Factory)
Thoughts:
For lunch, the company subsidizes NT$50 of the NT$70 cost; the remaining NT$20 is deducted from salary each month.
Each month, welfare fees, labor pension contributions, and labor and health insurance premiums are deducted from salary.
Labor and health insurance, group insurance, three-festival bonuses (PX Mart vouchers worth NT$500–1,000), and a year-end bonus (0–2 months) are provided.
Domestic travel (one day). {Since becoming a TYC subsidiary, overseas travel has become an item used by job banks to deceive applicants.} Domestic travel does not offer an option of more than one day.
Overtime is routine. Employees take turns working overtime at night and all day on Saturdays (approximately 7–10 overtime days per month).
When there is new-product trial production, the latest I have ever stayed was until 1:30 a.m.
Typhoon days are unpaid leave. On rest days and red-letter national holidays, the company does not pay 1.33 or 1.66 times the salary, but only 1x; however, supervisors will require employees to report to work.
Marriage leave is available (one type of official leave). After completing the three-month probationary period, salary is adjusted (minimum NT$500, maximum NT$1,000).
Training consists of voluntary learning alongside senior colleagues and mentors. If the mentor does not teach you or is not proactive enough, it is easy to resign after being required to work independently in the second month after joining.
After the Biotechnology Section changed supervisors, new employees generally lasted from about 2 weeks to 3 months. In the short period of just over one year since the new supervisor took office, 8 people have resigned (including 4 employees with approximately 2–5 years of experience who also could not endure it).
The hiring decision is communicated anywhere from half a day to one week later. Night-shift overtime personnel rotate daily. Routine overtime runs from 5:30 p.m. until around 8:30 p.m.; Saturdays involve overtime to support the production line. Overtime pay follows the Labor Standards Act. HR and the department supervisor talk at length based on the interviewee’s conversation and willingness to cooperate. The interview lasts approximately 1.5 hours. After being hired, you are expected to immediately apply your strengths (the role is essentially an all-purpose position; even those specializing in automatic control may be asked by the supervisor to perform refrigeration and air-conditioning repairs, as well as repairs for other departments, and may occasionally be sent to the Anping Mold Factory or Taipei Factory to provide repair support).
Disadvantages
You will find out once you join. (If a normal person can last more than 3 months, I’ll buy you a drink.)
Easy to get hired, and unlikely to be laid off. Those who feel they lack ability and do not care about salary may consider coming here to slack off.
Wugu, New Taipei City — Assistant Property Management Engineer / Administrator work experience
The job and salary discussed in the interview were completely different from reality.
The salary discussed is only available after passing the three-month probationary period. Meals are not free and must be paid for, and a welfare fund is also deducted from the salary.
The only benefits are gifts for the three major holidays (only after one year of employment) and a year-end bonus (approximately one month’s salary).
The interview stated that the job involved being responsible for only part of the work, with no heavy lifting, prolonged standing, or overtime required.
In reality, you have to help with everything, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing. Overtime is required, but there is no overtime pay—only compensatory leave.
The new employee who later took over the work also said that everything described in the interview was different from reality. I suspect the supervisor’s approach is to deceive people into joining first and deal with the consequences later.
Long-time employees like to slack off, and the supervisors are too lazy to manage them, so all the work is dumped on new employees.
There are two supervisors. One is weak and afraid of taking responsibility. He does not dare object when other departments push work onto him and only bullies new employees. He also never thinks things through; he just mindlessly works step by step at a slow pace, and only asks new employees to help when he cannot finish.
The other only talks and makes empty promises (this is the supervisor who conducted the interview). He also dumps all the work on new employees, saying empty platitudes such as “the company won’t mistreat you if you do a little more.”
The company does not give raises. Many long-serving employees earn no more than new hires. The salary is approximately NT$27,000.
Basically, as long as the company does not encounter a financial crisis, you will not be laid off. No matter how poorly you perform or how much you slack off, you can stay until retirement.
The salary is much lower than that of other companies in the same industry, and it never gets adjusted. Unless you are exceptionally capable, there is little chance of getting a raise.
People who work seriously will work themselves to death because many people slack off and do not do their jobs. If you are too conscientious, all of their work will become yours.
If you stay too long, you will sink into the same state as those long-timers, making it difficult to find a job elsewhere in the future.
