Pros

1. Snacks left over after offerings on the four major holidays can be eaten.

2. The former female senior executive surnamed Chang has been laid off.

*Incidentally, this company has violated the Labor Standards Act and has been fined! Please look it up and verify for yourself.*

Cons

I have worked here for over X years. I will only state the facts below. If you want to come and take on the challenge, you can; those who are faint-hearted, please do not enter!

1. The company's organizational chart changes frequently, on average once every three months.

2. The company often changes seating locations; one person moves an average of 3–5 times a year.

3. Job duties often undergo minor changes, about once every three months. For example, someone originally working in design may need to additionally assist with the work of a business assistant or the Administration Department due to personnel changes in other departments.

4. The company's turnover rate is extremely high. The year before last, 104 called to express concern and asked why the company's number of hires was showing negative growth, suspecting that the company was a scam operation.

5. The company has been in business for 26 years, but only two of its most senior employees remain, and neither has been there for more than five years. All the senior employees have left.

6. Almost all senior employees resigned voluntarily, but the female senior executive surnamed Chang received severance pay. It takes certain tactics to obtain this money. I admit I could not outmaneuver them, so I also resigned voluntarily.

7. The boss likes to bring in parachuted-in managers, but capable managers often leave within less than six months.

8. The boss's sayings: “Did I ever say that?” “Where is the evidence?” “Is there a record?” “You misunderstood what I meant.” “That’s not what I meant.” “Because you are not yet up to speed, I need to spend time reviewing your work?” “I have a lot of experience; surely you don’t understand this as well as I do?” “I’m very familiar with so-and-so.” …There are too many examples; the list is endless.

9. The company was already delaying salary payments before the pandemic broke out, and did so again last year. The method was to pay one-third first, then make further payments gradually until the end of the month.

10. Over the past three years, the year-end bonus has been at most half a month's salary (and the minimum was only a few thousand dollars!). Of course, no one knows whether it will be higher or lower in the future.

11. Thinking carefully, what have I learned at this company? Communication skills and how to control my temper. Of course, I did gain some professional knowledge related to the industry.

12. Decisions on a single matter often require the consent or review of many people before proceeding. For example, an EDM must go through multiple reviews, and by the time it is sent, the holiday has already arrived; or quotations and purchase orders… the amounts are not large, but they must pass through layer after layer of approval. Although there is an established approval process, it often changes with one word from the boss. Therefore, everyone feels that the boss does not really trust the employees.

13. The boss of this company is unfriendly toward senior employees but likes to hire people who have returned to the company, for the reason you are probably thinking of!

14. The company's computer equipment is very old, and personal computers often struggle to run properly. It can train your patience…

15. The boss often praises employees for handling company matters outside working hours. The company's overtime is compensated at a 1:1 rate with time off in lieu. The overtime-pay option on the leave form is just for show; even if you select it, you will still be given time off in lieu afterward. If you are already working overtime on holidays, will you even have time to take the compensatory leave? I’m so foolish.

16. Some workstations are cramped, and the overall office environment is somewhat old.

17. The current atmosphere in the office is indeed better than before since the manager surnamed Chang left. However, job functions keep changing, work efficiency is constantly affected by others, and the company has no formal training program… among other things. It is not easy for the atmosphere to improve; I’m just afraid that everyone is only pretending on the surface.

18. Clients and vendors often complain that the company keeps changing its service contacts. Once, a client even came in holding a business card and asking whether this person or that person was there…

19. There is much more… but I believe the information above is sufficient for everyone to use as a reference and make a decision.

Pros

The company is close to an MRT station, and there are plenty of convenient places to eat nearby.

Cons

1. Employees are treated like cleaners: each department takes turns collecting urine, feces, toilet paper, food waste, and office trash. When collecting the trash from the boss’s office, the boss will not even look you in the eye, which feels unpleasant.

2. The office environment is old, and not only are the facilities not updated, even the broken pedals on the restroom trash cans are not replaced. The facilities and environment may be worse than those in a military barracks.

3. Applying for overtime pay will get you reprimanded by the boss, and it will not be approved. They make excuses to avoid paying overtime. I have heard former employees say that part of their monthly salary was withheld. The company has been reported several times and fined by the labor bureau, yet it is still filing administrative appeals. There are news reports about this online.

4. The sales manager is obnoxious. Aside from having good personal sales performance, he has no ability to lead people and only talks, constantly pressuring everyone to “see money coming in” (performance). Most of what you learn on the job depends on colleagues carrying you.

5. The company has shown no operational growth in recent years. Whether it is making money is unknown, yet it creates a grand vision of developing business in mainland China. Taiwan is not being managed well, but they still want to expand to mainland China—quite courageous.

6. Each employee is made to do the work of two or three people. Besides their own duties, they are often required to help with miscellaneous tasks, including serving as garbage cleaners, of course. XD

7. There are at least three to five meaningless meetings every week. The meetings consist of listening to the sales supervisor nitpick and berate people, with absolutely no benefit to the work. You are often called away to meaningless meetings halfway through your work, disrupting your train of thought.

8. No salary increases, no year-end bonuses, and hardly any opportunities for promotion. Unless your performance is exceptionally good and you are favored by the boss, managerial positions at this small company are all blocked off. To be frank, there are zero opportunities for advancement.

9. During the interview, if they want to make you an offer, their attitude will be very nice. After you report for work and join the company, they completely become a different person, ordering you around like a junior assistant and making you feel undignified.

10. Employee turnover is high. Many people cannot last more than three months, and those who make it to six months are considered very tough. But continuing to tough it out at this kind of company feels like wasting your life. If it is not a good fit, leave quickly. Those considering applying for an interview should think twice.

11. It feels like this industry is extremely niche in Taiwan, so the experience is not very helpful when looking for a job after leaving—unless you want to work in the stock image industry until retirement.

12. The company does not protect its employees. The boss and supervisors hide behind the scenes. I often hear about colleagues receiving phone calls in which they are berated, while we are also required to use our full names, making it very easy to offend people. Earning little would be one thing, but having to offend so many people who misuse images just to earn this bit of money, and then get yelled at, feels dangerous.

13. The weekly afternoon tea is only called that for appearances. In reality, each person orders a drink costing NT$60; it is reasonable to pay for anything over that amount yourself, but if you do not order one, the cost is deducted from your salary! What is the deal with forcing people to order drinks? Do they have an arrangement with the beverage shop? It is really strange.

14. The boss and the female vice president do not get along at all. There is an office-politics culture, and both of them seem to have a strong sense of authority. You have to pay attention to many details, and there are lots of unspoken rules at work.

Pros

None

Cons

Before considering working here, I strongly advise everyone to think twice........

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. The boss does not manage anything and leaves it all to the female vice president, who is also the highest-ranking supervisor. She is extremely emotional: she yells at and berates people she dislikes, while pampering those she likes and keeping them close. The infighting and factionalism are severe.

2. A certain senior female colleague will snatch orders and performance credit, then pretend nothing happened and say that she has entered the order for you. In reality, you have to share your performance credit with her.

3. The company provides afternoon tea every Thursday and forces everyone to order a drink costing NT$60. Even if you do not order one, NT$60 will still be deducted from your salary.

4. The vehicle used for business belongs to the boss, but the boss never maintains or repairs it. The car may even drift, making it very dangerous for employees to drive.

5. The highest-ranking supervisor often likes to call pointless meetings. Even when the workday ends at 6:00 p.m., they may pull you into a meeting at 5:50 p.m., which may last until 7:00 p.m. or even later.

6. Salaries are sometimes paid late.

Pros

The department heads and the boss are quite patient and very accommodating toward newcomers.

Cons

Supervisors:

The company’s highest-ranking executive is very emotional and likes to control every department. The people under him also follow his lead, treating employees from other departments imperiously. The turnover rate here—especially among department heads—is very high. I sincerely recommend thinking twice if you are applying for a supervisory position.

Overtime:

There is no overtime pay; basically, it is a responsibility-based system, though time off in lieu is available.

Pros

The department supervisors are all very nice and devoted to guiding their teams

Cons

The top executive is jealous and emotional, and turns the entire company upside down over the slightest thing. The company has a high turnover rate, which is probably caused by him.

There is no overtime pay

Pros

They show a lot of respect for interviewees.

Cons

The position I interviewed for was a technical role. Looking at the elaborate test questions, you can tell that the technology this company uses is at least 20 years out of date.

The recruitment process and mindset are also extremely old-fashioned.

HR is extremely unprofessional! They kept changing the interview time. After we finally managed to arrange it, they said they had found someone else..... Arbitrarily canceling interviews—terrible company!
