This is about the interview at the Dayuanzi on Yucheng Road in Kaohsiung.
Position applied for: Part-time morning-shift worker
When we discussed working hours, they said that part-time workers also work 7–8 hours, and full-time employees do too. They asked why I wasn’t considering a full-time position.
I said I only wanted to work 4–6 hours, and they said I was very strange. Like, what kind of perspective are you thinking from?! I just want to work for a shorter period of time; that’s my freedom. What business is it of yours?!
I only earn 28K working in New Taipei, and they told me that this is perfectly normal. You should try going out and spending money sometime!!! Even after paying rent, I still have plenty left over.
You’re the strange one.
1. Eight days off per month
2. High flexibility in scheduling
3. Salary complies with the Labor Standards Act
4. There are quite a lot of things to learn
1. There is a meeting and a major cleanup every month, which are unpaid (approximately 3 hours in total)
2. You have to promote a lot of things, and management will give you a hard time if they are dissatisfied
3. When you have incompetent coworkers, you have to keep cleaning up after them (approximately 8 hours per month)
4. You have to use a day off to attend the year-end banquet, and attendance is mandatory (the company provides a shuttle bus)
5. All three holiday bonuses are issued as 7-ELEVEN gift vouchers; only employees who work on the first day back after the holiday receive NT$200
The salary and benefits are pretty good.
The company shows two completely different faces when you join and when you are about to leave.
