Pros

1. Conveniently located, right near the MRT station, and easy to get to by scooter.

2. Plenty of food options, and they’re inexpensive.

3. Flexible working hours.

Cons

1. There are many ineffective and extremely lengthy meetings. Most of the time is spent zoning out while listening to the boss’s dreams for the future. After three hours, the meeting still ends without any conclusions or actionable decisions.

2. The base salary is low. Bonuses are paid every quarter, but no one has ever explained how they are calculated or what the system is. It is extremely opaque.

3. Colleagues are very indifferent and do not look out for one another. When an issue arises, no one responds at the time; only after everything is over and the problem is discovered do they start playing Monday-morning quarterback.

4. The horizontal management is severely out of sync. When promoting a product, no one knows what resources are available or how the schedule should be planned. Everyone works independently, and only when it is time to launch do they suddenly say everything needs to be integrated, leaving you to figure out how to combine it all yourself. It is very disorienting.

4. An inexplicable wage-deduction system: deductions for being late, for not sweeping the floor, and for submitting the weekly report late. They even know these deductions violate labor laws, so they collect the money in cash to avoid the legal requirements.

5. Employees have to pay a monthly welfare fee, but the only benefits are one pack of toilet paper per month and snacks at the monthly meeting. Oh, and once you run out of toilet paper, you cannot get another pack—you have to wait until the next month, when you pay the welfare fee again, to claim it.

6. Every week, employees have to write a weekly report analyzing issues and providing opinions, but writing one is not necessarily useful. If you do not write one, or if you write something the boss does not want to see, you will be publicly berated.

7. When you first join, no one will train or guide you. They simply dump the work on you and expect you to figure it out yourself. If you make a mistake, they just blame you for not looking into it yourself. (Things are kept in a messy, disorganized manner, and no one ever tells new employees where anything is—how are they supposed to find it?) They expect every new employee to fend for themselves, grow quickly on their own, and become proficient automatically.

8. No one responds when you ask for feedback on the results you produce. Once the work has gone live, suddenly there are a pile of complaints and questions, along with accusations about why you did it that way in the first place.

Pros

1. Convenient transportation.

2. Drinks and snacks are provided from time to time.

3. There are many places to eat around the company.

Cons

1. The base salary is low. Bonuses are paid quarterly, but the actual payment criteria are unclear.

2. A weekly work report must be written and reviewed and presented at the weekly meeting. The meetings are lengthy and often extend several hours past the end of the workday.

3. The workplace atmosphere is relatively indifferent. Overtime is routine, and tasks are often assigned just before the end of the workday.

4. There are no work SOPs, so employees must get up to speed on their own. Other colleagues constantly follow up on progress, assuming that everything should already be known.

5. The turnover rate is high, with two to three people leaving each month.

6. No overtime pay.

7. Employees must pay a monthly welfare fee, which can be exchanged for one pack of toilet paper and used to cover food and drinks at the monthly meeting. There are also many policies that result in bonus deductions.
