Pros

The colleagues are very nice.

Cons

The boss is very petty and keeps changing what they say.

There aren't many people in the company, yet management says one thing and does another all day long. The company has made money in recent years, and the boss's clothes and accessories keep getting better, but turns a blind eye to employees working overtime.

The boss's friends will touch female employees inappropriately. The entire company knows about it, but everyone is furious and afraid to speak up.

Pros

None

Cons

The company’s primary business is taking on outsourced projects,

government tenders, and keeping costs as low as possible,

as well as developing customized functions.

The boss bragged about being located in Zhonghe

and investing in Yuansheng, a hardware OEM manufacturer.

The goal was to integrate software and hardware with the other party.

The other company’s boss was generous and directly acquired a stake,

so the company’s capital increased.

After that, the boss would occasionally give everyone pep talks,

saying the company would go public within five years,

while talking about a bonus system (which in reality did not exist at all),

and looking at the boss’s luxury-brand watches,

as well as remembering seeing the boss’s newly replaced car in the parking lot.

The year-end bonus was basically just one month’s salary.

UI/UX Designer

It took an entire year to get Adobe Illustrator approved.

The reason was that the company prepared an annual budget.

A Mac computer was out of the question, of course—there was none.

Designers had to bring their own computers.

There were not enough front-end engineers,

so designers also had to write front-end code.

The company encouraged developing multiple skills and becoming T-shaped talent.

The boss wanted you to keep copying old projects

and create templates, then copy and paste to deliver after the PM secured a new project.

When the pandemic was severe, colleagues in hard-hit areas were allowed to WFH,

but when I arrived at the office, I found that 70% of colleagues still came to work regardless.

As time has passed, the current situation is not much different from what was described in this post.

Pros

Summarizing the messages left by previous employees: Simply put, if you’re highly capable, this is a welcoming place to coast toward retirement.

If you’re mid-level and looking for someone to learn from, you may still find it faster to Google things yourself.

Pros

1. You have extra time to research things on your own.

2. A snack cabinet with a small selection of snacks.

3. Gift money for the three major holidays and birthdays.

4. Birthday celebrations every two months.

5. High chances of winning prizes in the year-end party raffle.

6. Flexible start time (09:00–09:30), lunch break (12:00–13:30); working hours are 09:00–18:00.

7. Little overtime.

8. The air conditioning is very cold and powerful.

9. No company trips (I heard this was because someone kept not going, so they couldn’t organize one...)

10. A refrigerator, water dispenser, microwave, and coffee machine.

11. Colleagues get along well (they don’t pry too much, but will make small talk).

12. The company is very good at packaging and marketing.

13. Later, so-called morning meetings and regular meetings were introduced to keep track of one another’s progress.

14. There is a YouBike station nearby, so you can ride there.

Cons

Cons

1. The company-provided PCs have average specifications (e.g., i5 + 8 GB RAM / i3 + 4 GB RAM, 21" monitors, etc.).

2. No clear promotion system.

3. No clear salary structure.

4. Salary increases are unimaginably small.

5. Some distance from the MRT and train stations.

Pros

1. Colleagues and supervisors are easy to get along with, and you can ask questions whenever you have them.

2. When things are slow, you can look at your own stuff.

Cons

1. The benefits are average, x13.

2. PTT replied with a fake sanitized table, hmm....

3. If the starting salary is set too low, it will probably take two or three years to reach the 40,000s.

However, I’ve heard that people who negotiate a higher starting salary may go two or three years without an adjustment.

4. If things are too slow, they might ask you to develop a second specialty (writing web apps).

5.....I won’t write too much.

Conclusion:

The pressure is low, possibly because the salary isn’t high. Most of the engineers have little experience, with only the supervisors being senior.

There’s naturally no code review or anything like that~. It feels like there’s only so much you can learn; you can only practice developing your ability to Google things independently. Use your spare time to learn other things, and staying for one or two years is probably about enough... Experts don’t need to waste their time here.

Pros

Low salary, poor benefits, and poor treatment at this small company, with frequent internal conflicts! Whenever an employee resigns, they start telling current employees bad things about the person who left. There are more PMs than PGs, including a trusted insider whose name starts with R. They like gossiping and making jokes about colleagues, but can't take a joke when others make one about them! They think their C# skills are excellent, but whenever a colleague has difficulties at work and the supervisor asks them to help, they start complaining!
