Pros

I’ve learned a lot at the company. Starting from the basics, I’ve built up my skills step by step through solid practice. My supervisor is very patient and willing to teach. I’m very happy to have joined this company, and the benefits system is also excellent. I’m glad to have the opportunity to work here and develop my abilities.

The boss is an emotional person who often shifts problems onto others; cuts people without batting an eye; employees with no further value to offer are directly told to get lost, so the turnover rate is extremely, extremely, extremely high; every employee has to take on multiple roles; one person is used as three, with an extremely broad scope of responsibility and cross-disciplinary work, and no one assigned to delegate it; the workload is impossible to finish even if you work overtime to death; when you ask for a raise, you get humiliated and told that your performance hasn’t been seen, while they schedule an even tighter workload for you; company benefits—none; meeting after meeting after meeting, with no focus; only the boss berates and blames employees; and no problems are solved.

Last month was tax filing month, and after receiving my withholding statement, I discovered that the company had overstated my income despite paying me a low salary. I immediately called my supervisor to ask about it. The supervisor said they would contact accounting themselves, but when I called accounting, I found out that the supervisor had also resigned XD. Later, the accountant was willing to help handle the matter, but the company's accounts are handled by an outsourced accounting firm. The company still asked me to go back to discuss reimbursing me for the difference, but I am busy with my current job, so I asked the company to send me the calculation details directly so I could check whether they matched my own calculations; otherwise, I would be making the trip for nothing. However, the company kept insisting that I go there to discuss it. This was the first time I had encountered a situation like this, and it felt quite frightening. Employees really need to be more careful and calculate whether their monthly and annual income is correct; otherwise, even a small discrepancy can add up to a lot. In my case, my income was overstated by several thousand dollars.

The boss is highly emotional and only cares about profit. Employees who are deemed to have no value to the company are dismissed directly. Whenever there is a customer complaint, the boss takes out their dissatisfaction on the employees. They talk all day about expanding the company, while also saying that the profit from selling a box of fruit is very low and that they are losing money, and that departments need to be downsized. This is a company with little promise for the future, with employees who pick only the easy tasks; an emotional, profit-driven boss; low, fluctuating salaries that are never adjusted; irregular working hours; a system where employees are required to stay late without overtime pay; a high turnover rate; and intrusive LINE messages during off-hours and holidays that make it impossible to enjoy any peace. No matter how long you stay, all you will do is pick and pack fruit, while the only person making money is the boss. Moreover, if the boss says profits are low and the company is not making money, employees are even less likely to receive good benefits. Job seekers really need to think further ahead—don’t waste your life at this company.

When I requested a salary increase, I was brushed off with the explanation that they would schedule a more tightly packed workload for me, so my performance bonus—and therefore my pay—would be higher.

The salary adjustment is made in the form of a performance bonus: you receive it if you meet the work requirements, and it is deducted if you do not. It is variable.

It is not part of the base salary. In other words, there is still no salary increase; you simply do more work to receive more bonuses.

【Full-time salary】

Base salary of 21,500 + perfect attendance bonus of 1,500 + meal allowance of 50 per day (calculated based on the number of days worked, so February is especially unfavorable).

Year-end bonus equivalent to one month of base salary; salary adjustments depend on the circumstances.

【Part-time staff】

They will tell you that the hourly wage during the probationary period is 100, which is lower than the 133 required by the Labor Standards Act. Just look it up online and you’ll know it’s illegal. Whether it will be raised depends on your work performance.

【Environment】

The environment is cramped, making it difficult for staff to move around. The cold storage room is small, making it difficult to move goods in and out. The front area is used for storing dry goods, while the room is used for processing fruits and vegetables. There is a wheel-rim factory across from the company, so there are occasionally loud noises.

【Work】

The work involves sorting fruit, packaging fruit, organizing the cold storage room, receiving and shipping goods, calculating losses, taking warehouse inventory, filling out work logs and various reports. During the lunch break, you also have to receive deliveries if any arrive. You have to clean before leaving work. On Fridays, you have to stay for a meeting, of course without overtime pay. After work every day, they will continue assigning future tasks in the LINE group, and the same applies on holidays.

【Employees】

There are very few employees—only around ten. The company has two supervisors, and almost no one has worked there for more than a year. There is a middle-aged woman surnamed Zhou who had only been working there for a few months when I joined. She used to be part-time and later became full-time, but only wants to do part-time tasks. Her position is the same as yours, but she always treats herself like a supervisor and only chooses easy work to do. The company has a large quantity of fruit, at least 100 boxes, but she finds excuses not to carry the fruit and only sorts and packs it or handles dry goods. She says she wants to train you, so she keeps ordering you around. If you ignore her and let her carry things herself, she will put on a sour face and lecture you. She likes to shift blame to other people, so you end up having to do everything. The boss says you can take NG fruit home to eat, but Auntie Zhou believes that NG fruit is under her control and requires her permission, so there has been NG fruit sitting in the cold storage room for a long time, obstructing the space. Naturally, it is impossible to leave work on time at 5:30 p.m., and you do not receive overtime pay either. The pay is low, the workload is heavy, and employee turnover is high.
