Pros

As mentioned in the previous post, the boss is usually a nice person, and the design aesthetics are certainly commendable. If you don’t demand a high salary and are a well-behaved, obedient employee, you can build up a decent portfolio there.

Cons

a. Me, colleague A, colleague B, and a former colleague of a colleague were all laid off one after another. It was either before completing a year or just a little over a year.

b. There was no severance pay.

c. It feels like they suddenly hire people when there are many projects, then lay people off when there are few projects, or lay people off when they suddenly decide someone isn’t obedient or useful enough.

d. They said that even supervisors at large design companies only earn 38,000.

e. They said themselves that employees are all meant to be scolded (though I didn’t experience this).

f. There is overtime, of course without overtime pay.

g. You are not allowed to ask colleagues about their salaries.

h. As mentioned in the previous post, there is no year-end bonus and no ten-day advance notice before layoffs.

The above is for reference only; perhaps things are different now.

Pros

When things are “normal,” the boss and colleagues are very nice.

The company atmosphere is fairly good, and there is also quite a high degree of freedom.

Cons

Regarding salary:

Salary is frequently paid late, and after a colleague left, the company did not intend to hire anyone to replace them.

There has never been a pay raise. I heard from a former colleague that there were no year-end bonuses either (employees were dismissed before the New Year).

Regarding the work:

Because it is a small company, there is a considerable shortage of staff.

In addition to serving as the PM, the boss is also responsible for copywriting, planning, and other tasks.

However, his own abilities are insufficient to handle so many responsibilities.

He frequently spends a great deal of time repeatedly revising copy or confirming details with clients.

If he has difficulty coming up with his own plans or copy, it seriously compresses the time available for design execution.

There are also some unreasonable clients who wait until the later stages of production to request changes to the size and content of the deliverables.

They even make demands that confuse right and wrong and blatantly deny reality, yet the boss is unable to stop these clients’ behavior.

He may even blame and dismiss employees when the deliverables do not meet the client’s requirements. It is truly extremely irresponsible.

Even though they had all reviewed the proofs, design work could not be independently commissioned and produced, yet the blame could still be shifted onto the designer.

When it comes to dismissing employees, the company also unilaterally demands that they resign, without providing the ten days’ advance notice required by law.

Of course, there is no such thing as severance pay either. I asked a former colleague, and they said they had experienced a similar situation at the time.

Judging from this, the company has apparently remained in this state for the past two years; not a single designer has been able to stay for more than a year.
