Pros

01. The atmosphere among colleagues is quite good, and the work environment is comfortable, with music playing and a relaxed atmosphere.

02. Suitable for fresh graduates who do not have high salary expectations and want to accumulate and hone their experience.

03. There are occasional group meals or company trips.

04. The pantry has snacks, coffee, and tea.

05. There are some extra “little happiness” days off compared with other companies.

Cons

01. The starting salary is low, expectations are high, work pressure is quite heavy, and salary increases are limited.

02. A welfare fund is deducted from the salary and used for occasional group meals, trips, and other activities.

However, if you do not like participating in activities, you pay the money without taking part and feel that it is a waste, as if the money has simply been thrown into the water.

03. Overtime is routine, but there is no overtime pay—only a NT$100 missed-meal allowance.

04. Design positions receive transportation subsidies when they finish late and there are no buses or MRT services. Other positions do not have this benefit and must pay out of pocket for a taxi or find their own way home, which is particularly disadvantageous for women.

03. There are regular meetings every week, but the atmosphere is usually not very good because the boss spends them reviewing problems and criticizing performance results.

04. Design planning and ideation are easily limited by proposals from the sales team. Sometimes, if the direction is wrong, major revisions are required or everything becomes very urgent.

05. They say they can accept mistakes, but when you actually make an unintentional mistake, it is a different story.

06. If there is an error at work, you may sometimes have to compensate according to the proportion of responsibility.

07. There is a lot of work, yet time must also be set aside to clean the environment, causing tasks at hand to be delayed because of cleaning and so on.

08. Your passion for the work quickly gets worn away because the feeling of what you put in is not proportional to what you receive.

Pros

The colleagues are all quite responsible and will work overtime together.

Cons

Overtime is frequent, and it is taken for granted that there is no overtime pay. The design team is treated as inferior, and everything is dictated by the sales team; even when a client’s demands are unreasonable, the design must still be changed. Although the sales staff have never studied design, they keep telling the designers to adjust this and that. Otherwise, they explain things unclearly, making it impossible to understand what the client actually wants. Projects often come in today and are due tomorrow, so everyone works overtime every day. The Monday meetings are very depressing because the boss constantly yells at people. We also have to clean on Fridays; even though there is already too much work to finish, we have to clean the restrooms, and if they are not clean enough, we get yelled at. When business performance is good, the sales staff receive performance bonuses, but everyone else gets nothing. If you make a mistake at work, not only are you reprimanded, you also have to pay compensation. Moreover, the boss is very calculating: instead of directly deducting it from your salary, he makes you bring in your own money to pay, so you have no evidence to sue him, and then makes you sign a statement confirming that you did so voluntarily. An excessively high employee welfare fund is deducted from your pay even though there are hardly any benefits. Salaries are already very low, yet the welfare fund is deducted every month, and it will not be refunded even if you resign. There is much more that has not been mentioned; just do not go there.

Pros

1. Colleagues from different departments get along well, but still need to compete with one another when pitching proposals.

2. Coffee and snacks are provided in the pantry and can be taken as needed.

3. You can listen to music and chat with one another while working, creating a relaxed atmosphere.

4. Comfortable working environment.

5. Suitable for people who want to quickly accumulate experience, provided that you are hardworking and willing to endure tough conditions.

Cons

1. Overtime is routine, but there is no overtime pay—only a NT$100 missed-meal allowance. It is taken for granted that you will work until the early hours of the morning when your projects cannot be finished, and the next day you can only clock in late according to company policy.

2. This is a business-oriented company. Designers must follow the proposal direction predetermined by the business team when designing and revising drafts, and proposals are nearly 90% complete by the time they are presented. If the business team’s direction is unfortunately wrong, you have to start over from scratch.

3. When there is a large-scale production project, you must put aside your current work and provide full support, but you still have to find a way to complete your own work within the proposal deadline.

4. The boss has a cleanliness obsession and sets high standards for the environment. Employees take turns serving as the duty person, with responsibilities including cleaning the pantry, office environment, outdoor areas, and two restrooms. If the boss is dissatisfied, you will be required to redo the work for a week. In addition, everyone must carry out a thorough cleaning once a week.

5. Lunch breaks are frequently taken up by revisions, showing no respect for employees’ right to rest.

6. When miscommunication between the business team and the client causes a proposal to be rejected or problems during execution, the tendency is to blame one another from the client’s perspective; at that moment, there is no such thing as a “team.”
