Pros

Free shuttle buses for commuting and extremely unappetizing lunches

Because most people in the company have atrociously poor English skills, the language bonus is quite generous.

With a TOEIC score of 400, you can get an extra NT$1,000 per month.

Absolutely laughable.

Cons

If you hear keywords such as the Philippines or Dyson during the hiring process, or encounter a short-haired female manager who is rather thin and has small eyes, decisively give up on the position. New hires are given all kinds of care and attention when they first start, but as soon as they realize you can work independently, an endless stream of tasks will come your way. Eventually, you will work overtime every day without seeing any indication that upper management wants to improve things. Most internal emails are written in English, but most people’s English is as bad as shit. They only know the technical terms used at work; whenever they have to say a complete sentence, their grammar is a complete mess. You will even encounter managers who cannot score 700 on the TOEIC bragging to you that their English has become excellent because they frequently communicate with factories and customers in the Philippines. They do not realize that Filipinos’ English ability is also far from good. Staying in this environment for a long time will only make your English worse. It is extremely embarrassing. Also, because everyone’s English is so poor, no one can actually teach the Filipinos properly. They can only let them produce piles of garbage every day for the Taiwanese staff to clean up and deal with, while you are already insanely busy and still have to answer a pile of phone calls every day asking you to help solve the factories’ idiotic problems. On top of that, the manager has serious emotional-management issues and refuses to acknowledge them. Even when something could be discussed calmly, she has to raise her voice at you. Whenever she is in a bad mood, she will suddenly demand an explanation for something you did several months ago, as if the misery of her life were all your fault. She also picks fights with other departments at the drop of a hat, believing she is fiercely defending her own people, when in fact she is merely ruining the work atmosphere in her department and making every other department think we are all assholes. The company also loves putting on a show. Never mind all the pointless superficial tasks—the internal systems are terrible, from optimization to UI/UX design, and extremely unintuitive. Even filling out a simple leave request or overtime form wastes a huge amount of time. Furthermore, the company claims to comply with labor laws and says it will not casually let employees work excessive overtime. In reality, after the 5 p.m. end of the workday, even if you do not go out to eat, they still deduct your meal break first and only start counting overtime from 6:30 p.m. Then the time-clock system automatically stops operating at 10:20 p.m., so regardless of what time employees actually work until each day, the system never records more than four hours. What a stroke of genius. You can experience all of this within your first six months. Even if you have had enough and want to resign, they will pester and pressure you in all sorts of ways. I genuinely cannot understand what kind of mentality or sense of superiority a company with over NT$10 billion in capital and more than 10,000 employees has when it haggles with a newcomer with less than a year of seniority over those one or two months. You have mistreated me for this long, and now that I want to leave, I still have to consider your feelings? I really cannot make sense of it.

Pros

Free lunch / parking or shuttle bus

Cons

There’s a comment from an alumnus on the same page that you should read. When you see D-board, production and sales, or the Philippines, just skip the job posting—don’t say you weren’t warned.

Pros

The robot G-sex supervisor still retains the practice of selecting consorts and harem culture—a good route for those who want to take an unconventional path.

Cons

The men also compete for the harem members’ favor, dressing up and spraying perfume every day. Do they work at a host club?

Pros

Nothing to do, just idling around

A place for seniors to enjoy their retirement

Cons

There is a manager surnamed K who seeks out female assistants and female PMs to favor and indulge

R&D staff are treated like garbage—called in when needed and dismissed at will

Discarded once they have been used

Older employees who cannot find other jobs have no choice but to endure it

Then they take out their frustrations on newcomers

Pros

Unclear

Cons

The company location is remote, and they even arranged a second interview—that would be one thing. But they didn’t notify me that I wasn’t hired. Okay, this is a terrible habit common among Taiwanese companies, so I could let that go. The main issue is that they didn’t respond either when I called or when I emailed to ask whether I had been hired. Was it so difficult to say?

Extremely disrespectful to job applicants

Pros

There is a company shuttle.

Cons

As the person downstairs said, there are far too many problems. At first, someone kindly told me about them, but I still approached it with the good intention of observing for myself. Sure enough…

1. I don't know where they learned the concept of PDCA, but everyone is required to set PDCA goals every day. Once they're set, there are a bunch of project add-ons and meeting add-ons… Are we supposed to follow the originally scheduled timelines?

The Japanese manager makes subjective judgments. If they feel your performance is insufficient, they make you reflect on it.

(Why not review their own leadership ability?)

2. The Japanese manager has a poor attitude, constantly smiling sarcastically at you. Is that stressful or what?

3. The whole department is run by a woman behind the scenes (yes, it's the person mentioned downstairs). If she doesn't like someone, she goes after them.

4. Unprofessional people leading professionals (that's right): R&D staff have to do ID, ID staff have to do graphic design, and designers have to do planning and marketing… You can't refuse, because you'll be put on a blacklist.

Conclusion: Japanese people who don't know the price of rice… The whole unit is noisy and consumed by infighting. Don't waste your time ruining your health and your mood, only to discover that it's an old-school industrial-style department within the tech industry.

Pros

The location is remote and eerie, but there is a shuttle bus, so you can use catching the bus as a reason not to work overtime.

Cons

The medical aesthetics department led by Japanese staff has an extremely high turnover rate. In a department of 25 people, on average, one person has left every month over the past four years. The higher the position, the less capable the person; outsiders lead insiders, and they even have an internal rule prohibiting employees from claiming overtime pay. There is also an old woman in the department who spends all day clinging to the manager, pretends to be young, and throws her weight around.
