Pros

The Hardware / IOP Testing-related teams in the Taipei office generally operate at a very relaxed pace, with a low workload and none of the intense release pressure faced by R&D.

Basically, the work consists of following established IOP test cases and procedures: clicking through the test environment, connecting cables, collecting logs, conducting routine triage, and assigning issues to R&D for resolution. As long as you follow the SOP, serious problems rarely occur, making this position very suitable for people looking for a low-stress job or an easygoing role until retirement.

Cons

1. Very low technical content, reduced to a forwarding function:

Daily work mainly involves manually running standard IOP tests, collecting logs, and assigning tasks. There is little depth in low-level architecture improvement or automation development. When encountering unexpected bugs, engineers can only mindlessly forward them to R&D, making it easy for their technical abilities to stagnate severely.

2. Highly repetitive work, easily replaced by AI and automation:

Daily tasks such as “log analysis and issue triage” follow an extremely standardized pattern. The industry has already widely adopted AI agents and automated analysis tools for preliminary debugging and classification. Continued overreliance on manual clicking and task assignment results in clearly low per-person output efficiency (ROI).

3. Highly outsourceable, creating a significant risk of organizational downsizing:

The work lacks a technical moat and can essentially be outsourced 100% to vendors / OSATs or supported by offshore teams. In an environment focused on becoming lean and transforming through AI, this kind of highly repetitive staffing is especially likely to become a priority target for organizational consolidation or headcount reduction.

Pros

No overtime, U.S. stocks are given as bonuses, and employees can participate in the stock ownership program.

There are significant differences between departments. Some require meetings with the U.S. at 7 a.m., while others require meetings with Europe at 7 p.m.

Some do not need to hold meetings with overseas departments.

There is an internal technical documentation system where you can learn a lot.

Cons

The salary is lower than at MediaTek.

Pros

1/25 video interview. Both interviewers were very respectful toward the candidate throughout the interview and communicated appropriately. Although HR was not sufficiently familiar with the position details beforehand, they still provided a thorough explanation and clarified both parties’ expectations. The interview was not long, but it was very pleasant.

Cons

I probably won’t be hired.

Pros

Hiring a large number of contract workers; during the interview, the requirements seemed to have been lowered.

American company style, with a snack bar, and the option to work from home.

They like to hire people with system-factory bring-up experience because the nature of the work is similar.

Cons

HR gives off a condescending impression.

There are not many openings for full-time positions. Contract positions are signed for two years at a time, and even full-time employees face the risk of being laid off.

Job openings in Taiwan are all AE positions, making it more difficult to gain exposure to core technologies.

Because of the nature of the work, the salary is not as high as that of technical positions at foreign companies.

1. American-style culture; colleagues are willing to share knowledge.

2. Projects are driven by common goals, without the traditional buck-passing; teamwork is good.

3. The boss is not merely a manager; they come from a technical background.

Cons

1. Layoffs are basically announced a few days in advance, and you leave immediately.
