Pros

New employee training

Cons

The company claims to be a happy enterprise, but it's fake. New employees don't feel any happiness when they first join.

Pros

If you’re lucky enough to have nice colleagues, work is enjoyable (as long as nothing happens to you).

Cons

When I first interviewed, I thought the company was fairly large, so I assumed there would at least be some systems in place (I had previously only worked in traditional industries).

But I was wrong.

After coming here, I found that all of the assistant managers and supervisors were long-term employees who had started from entry-level positions (e.g., store staff).

Almost none of them have any professional background or knowledge; they have simply been here for a long time. The entire company operates like a group of people with only elementary or high school-level education running things together. Even setting aside the lack of professionalism, there is absolutely no communication—everyone does their own thing. In this company, every kind of disaster can happen...

The company’s operations achieve an almost zero level of communication. The marketing department announces promotions, and the stores do not find out about them until the day they are supposed to execute them. And even then, the promotions are handled terribly (e.g., the VIP member incident, the 50-series graphics cards, and WirForce).

It is genuinely no exaggeration: employees only learn about every promotion on the day it starts. It is often only after a bunch of customers call with questions that we discover there is a new promotion. Having a promotion would be fine, except that there are also countless bugs and issues. I raised the potential problems with the promotions, as well as customers’ existing issues, with my supervisor. The supervisor replied, “Go check the official website”; otherwise, they would say, “That’s not something you should ask me about. Please find the person responsible.”

We only know there is a promotion by checking the official website, and we only discover that the promotion is full of loopholes by checking the official website. When I raise the issues, you tell me to go back and check the official website. I have to ask about the same issue twice—and asking twice still isn’t enough; I also have to explain to upper management why customers are encountering these problems. After all the back-and-forth, the supervisor finally realizes, “Oh, there really is a problem,” and rushes to compensate the customer, but there is no intention of actually improving anything. The communication is already nonexistent, but their comprehension and communication skills are poor as well.

Many problems could be avoided with just a little thought. If people cannot think things through, fine—but could they at least bring them up for discussion? Headquarters simply cannot do that. After all, they are all long-term employees. The company does hire for professional positions directly, but those employees almost never stay for more than six months.

As for salary, engineers earn around NT$30,000 per month. Although there are relatively many opportunities for promotion, if you stay long enough, you might have a chance to become an assistant manager or supervisor—but advancement depends more on “seniority” than ability.

In one sentence:

The people in the company who can handle things “cannot handle them”; the people who can handle things “cannot get them implemented.”

Cons

1. The more senior you become, the more work you have and the more overtime you do, with no overtime pay.

2. When you join, you are required to sign an online document stating that you must pay compensation if you leave before completing one year of employment. This document does not comply with regulations, so do not click “Agree.”

3. Everyone has a very heavy workload. It is not that colleagues are unwilling to help; everyone is already thankful if they can take care of their own work. Therefore, when you encounter difficulties, you generally have to figure things out yourself, fend for yourself, or ask others for help.

4. There are a great many meetings, often scheduled just before the end of the workday.

5. Senior management often holds club gatherings and meetings in the conference room and may suddenly ask you to take photos or prepare materials without first asking whether you can finish your work or have plans after work. There is absolutely no respect for employees.

Engineers only get that monthly salary—it’s honestly laughable. Besides doubling as warehouse staff, once you’ve finished shelving the goods, you have to handle assembly and repairs within the limited time remaining, so remember to learn how to be in two places at once.

All engineering positions are at the same level; only the team leader gets paid more. If you really have that much spare time, you can take a gamble on whether you’ll last 10 years or the team leader retires first.

Working hours are 11:00–21:00 with rotating days off and no holidays off for public holidays, making it difficult to pursue further education after work—a common problem in the service industry.

Position: MIS Engineer

The interviewer was very nice. They talked with you briefly about your previous work experience,

explained the responsibilities of the position, which mainly involved maintaining servers,

and then discussed the salary. After that, you could leave.

I originally thought the salary would be good, but I never heard back. It was probably capped at under 30K.
