Pros

I don't know—I wasn't hired.

Cons

1. The interview was an overwhelming setup: I had to face four senior executives alone.

2. I don't know what the interviewers were acting so arrogant about. I was the only one choosing; no one was choosing me. It was as if I were the emperor and you were all peasants.

3. The pay was fucking low. They asked me, “Why are you worth this amount?”

Honestly, I don't think you need to deliberately interview people just to meet performance targets.

Every interviewer had a fucking superior attitude.

Fuck you.

Pros

1. The work arrangements are fairly flexible. There is an employee store on-site to browse, and during free time you can also ride a bicycle around the entire facility for some exercise.

2. It is like a standard civil-service job: you leave and arrive on time, and even supervisors do the same (office staff do not receive overtime pay).

3. All the standard benefits are provided, but only just enough—there is nothing more: NT$1,000 in gift vouchers for each of the three major festivals / monthly welfare points that allow employees to purchase meals at half price / a fixed year-end bonus of about one month (calculated by number of days) / performance bonuses depend on luck, averaging a little over one day’s pay.

Cons

1. The office atmosphere is not great—so quiet that it feels like a library. There is not much interaction among colleagues either; indifference is the norm.

2. On-site workers have relatively low salaries, the working environment is more demanding, and they also often need to work overtime.

3. A common problem at large companies: there are many meaningless SOPs that waste time and energy.

4. The top-down hierarchy is very pronounced, and the company is not very friendly toward frontline employees.

5. Promotions and raises are very difficult.

Pros

The salary is better than the industry average, and the company is semi-governmental. As long as you can hang in there, you won’t starve here—but you probably won’t eat your fill either.

Cons

1. The training system is unclear. To survive after joining the company, it depends on who your supervisor is. If you happen to be assigned someone who cannot teach, they can make your life a living hell.

2. Overtime is unlimited. It is prettily described as being able to leave once your workday ends, but if you cannot finish your work, you cannot possibly leave. As for the compensatory leave system, no one applies for it anyway—it is essentially a nonexistent feature.

3. The promotion system is very mysterious. Reaching assistant manager after 10 years probably means you are exceptionally lucky and extremely capable. The system is highly restrictive and completely inflexible. I have heard of assistant managers being unable to advance after sitting in the position for too long and ultimately being demoted.

4. The company’s ERP system is very complicated; becoming proficient in it probably takes half a lifetime. Most of the people who have survived here are middle-aged employees who have stayed from beginning to end. It is perfectly normal for newcomers to be treated as idiots when they join.

Conclusion: Ultimately, this is a traditional manufacturing company that has evolved into a manufacturing-industry business, and it is also a family-owned enterprise. Those with grand ambitions should consider carefully.

Pros

Some people are easy to get along with

Cons

Violates the Labor Standards Act, does not pay overtime, has a heavy workload but low pay, poor workplace safety conditions, and infighting among management. I advise ambitious people not to take the wrong path.
