Pros

Flexible work, but often so flexible that there’s hardly any planning.

Cons

There’s no particularly impressive flagship product. The more managers try to advocate for better benefits and systems, the more they get blacklisted. Eventually, the only option is to seek an external transfer, and this may result in a bunch of team members drifting along with them...

Pros

Letting the cows graze and giving you free rein

Cons

I originally applied for a position in the Southern Region After-Sales Service Department.

The supervisor basically doesn’t manage anything, just lets everyone do as they please.

I’ve never seen him go down south.

Otherwise, he sends a deputy section chief back and forth every day just to make a token appearance...

Pros

Lunch and dinner provided

Cons

Do not go to the Customer Service Department, do not go to the Customer Service Department, do not go to the Customer Service Department. It is very important, so I’m saying it three times.

The manager Zhang there is merely a figurehead who does not do any work. Anyone he takes a dislike to will be labeled as having a bad attitude, being unenthusiastic about their work, or not knowing how to respect their supervisors. He also never privately checks in on employees; he only attacks them from behind. You will be treated terribly.

Remember, do not join the Customer Service Department.

Pros

Absolutely no advantages

Cons

The person currently referred to as the vice president is simply a trust-fund kid. No matter what the matter is, he does things according to his own wishes. When it comes to employees he dislikes, or when he hears a few words from others, he targets them relentlessly, without ever looking into the situation himself. He focuses solely on cultivating his own inner circle. As for employees he dislikes, even after they resign, he still uses them as targets of attack during morning meetings. In short, anyone considering coming to this company should think carefully. The people there are very sinister, and there are also many “ghosts” who will make trouble for you.

Cons

Coming here is a waste of time and ability; people who work seriously are no match for those who know how to curry favor. The atmosphere is poor, and there are people everywhere secretly kicking others when they are down.

Upper management leads the division and likes to pry into gossip among employees.

Those with more seniority will all be asked to leave, while newcomers have to shoulder more.

The pay is not high, and there are no prospects.

Pros

For salty, oily rice dishes at lunch and dinner, there is no deduction from your pay.

A good company where politics trumps professionalism.

Palace-intrigue dramas are constantly playing out.

Cons

The error rate for internally and externally processed parts is extremely high, and you’ll be worked to death by miscellaneous tasks.

Houke Factory:

Advantages??? As a mechanical design engineer, the machines will probably have a pile of problems after leaving the factory, which will keep you running back and forth to customers endlessly. Then, when the machine delivery is delayed, the director will kindly teach you how to write a delay report and make you go explain it to the customer. They’ll call it accumulating experience, to put it nicely.

Cons

Houke Factory — disadvantages:

1. Unless the entire company gets a salary adjustment, the raise will be pretty miserable. When I was there for more than two years, I only received a three-digit increase. (This is true, no exaggeration…)

2. A company with a high-tech exterior but a traditional-manufacturing core. The owner is quite old, so the thinking can be inconsistent and change back and forth. They always seem to think that young people nowadays are constantly talking about salary… (If you don’t discuss salary at work, are you doing charity?)

3. The employee turnover rate is high; it has already become the norm. It’s the same in every department. (Only section-level supervisors and above tend to have longer tenure; otherwise, the average tenure is probably just one or two years.)

4. The working hours are long—the hours here are no joke. Basically, it’s 11 hours a day! The overtime limits under the Labor Standards Act do not apply at this company. Once you join, you’ll see everyone exceeding the limits, and quite a few people rack up more than 100 hours of overtime.

5. If you take your work seriously, you lose. Why do I say that? Because if you simply work hard, your efforts actually won’t be noticed, since some supervisors will hold back your raises and promotions. Even more absurdly, HR also filters people out, and the ones they happen to reject are often the capable employees. That’s how part of the turnover rate comes about.

I seem to have said quite a lot… The rest is for everyone to discover for themselves!

Pros

The colleagues are easy to get along with

Cons

A bunch of managers verbally threaten to resign, but never leave

They are all getting what are technically raises

Some people are extremely idle while others are extremely busy

No need to think about it—the idle ones are always the privileged insiders

So many rules—as if they were managing middle school students

Shirts must be tucked in. No eating breakfast. No ordering drinks during work hours. No headphones... there are too many

Rules can never change privileges

A senior employee in a certain department

has basically become an on-site employee for a certain client

They all make up missed clock-ins online and don't need to come to the company

All kinds of lateness and absences have continued for years

Their direct supervisor still blindly covers for them

That's right—I'm talking about you!

Pros

1. The company pays overtime pay for overtime work

2. The colleagues below me are all very easy to get along with

Cons

1. After reading the previous reviews, I realized they were from two or three years ago. I thought they were about the present, but nothing has changed at all

2. They would rather pay a high salary to bring in outsiders as high-level executives than promote people from within. Many long-serving employees are still only team leaders or section chiefs

Houke Factory:

Overtime pay

Meal allowance

Those who live far away receive a housing allowance—usually, after the first inspection, there is no follow-up. If you choose to commute instead of renting, they won’t know.

A wide variety of equipment orders, with many opportunities to learn

High company revenue

Fast promotions

Salary adjustments

Cons

Houke Factory:

Overtime pay — You’ll work so much overtime that you’ll be exhausted. Those with children should be careful; you might come home one day to have your own child ask, “Uncle, who are you??”

Those who live far away receive a housing allowance — It was originally available to those living more than 25 km away, but later the threshold was raised to more than 30 km.

A wide variety of equipment orders, with many opportunities to learn — To boost revenue, sales not only accept orders recklessly, but also slash equipment prices themselves—even when there is no competition.

High company revenue — If revenue is the numerator, then costs are the denominator, and revenue/costs < 1 (usually it won’t be greater than 1). Revenue is used to deceive shareholders. Otherwise, at one annual shareholders’ meeting, the boss and the general manager wouldn’t have argued onstage over leftover equipment parts.

Fast promotions — Because team leaders usually don’t last long after taking the position (they log out), becoming a team leader within two or three years is perfectly normal. Basically, once you reach deputy manager, you get stuck, because there are more “parachuted-in personnel” than people who worked their way up from the front line. Not to mention that some relatives of the powerful, or people who curry favor with the boss’s right-hand man, occupy positions without doing anything. Usually, when they finally produce something—don’t be surprised—it’s yours!!!

Salary adjustments — When more and more veteran employees leave, that’s when salaries get adjusted!!!! When everything is calm, of course there are no adjustments. EX: If no one logs out within a year, your salary stays the same—unless you’re a powerful relative or someone who likes to curry favor with the boss’s right-hand man.

Whether you can actually do the work is not the point; as long as you put on a good enough show, you can succeed. EX: If you do well, you can become a team leader of one (with no team members to manage); you only need to manage the research logbook. They won’t even hold you accountable for KPIs!!!!

The organizational structure keeps changing: “After a long division, there is unity; after a long unity, there is division”—this is a constant that everyone who logs out will come to understand.

Too many leftover parts from old equipment — If you learn C# in the 2F PC department, it’s still fine because there isn’t much old equipment. If you learn Delphi, good luck...

Customers love modifications: Usually, modifications aren’t for adding new functions, but for fixing old ones, so halfway through a modification project, you’ll find that most of what you’re doing is fixing their previous functions.

Be careful when they start offering lots of benefits; one day later, they may reduce them or even stop giving them to you.

Conclusion: A good place to train and build your skills, just like university. But... you can’t possibly stay in university for the rest of your life.

Pros

Waipu Plant:

A company to retire at

The boss is fairly polite to people, but lacks patience (the handover between the two generations is currently underway, so it is unclear what the future holds).

Most departments pay overtime, lunch is provided by the company, and dinner is also provided if you work overtime.

There is a housing allowance for employees renting outside, welfare benefits for funerals and celebrations, and scholarships for children who excel at school. “Most” colleagues are relatively kind and polite.

Cons

Waipu Plant:

1. The company has no clear goals or plans for the future and has remained stagnant for many years.

2. I strongly do not recommend applying for any position in the Electrical Control Department (Automation Control Engineer/Assistant Engineer). There are major management problems with the supervisor (this department has the highest turnover rate). The only people left are newcomers (with 1–2 years of experience) and the supervisor, creating a significant gap in experience because everyone else was forced out through internal conflict. Upper management is no longer able to intervene or remedy the situation.

3. Mechanical Engineer: Long overtime hours (if you do not work overtime, the supervisor will question you), the supervisor dislikes sudden leave requests, the work environment is ordinary, and the atmosphere is somewhat dull.
