If you want to do absolutely nothing and still get paid, welcome—but I can’t tell you exactly when you’ll get the money.
Salaries are not paid on time, and the payday is changed without notice. Salaries are underreported, and the senior management consists of a father and son. It’s a private company where the boss does whatever he wants. The scheduled payday was the 15th, then it was changed to the 15th or 20th, and later they said it would be the 22nd or 29th. Every month is like living on dirt, with salary payments dragged from the beginning of the month to the end. The standard excuse is that the clients haven’t paid—what does that have to do with the employees? If the boss says so, laid-off employees won’t receive severance pay; you have to go through mediation. Whenever an assignment from the boss doesn’t suit him, he swears at people wildly. He wants the horse to run but doesn’t want to feed it. When you ask when the salary will be paid, no one knows anything; you’re told to ask the boss’s assistant. The company has no accountant, and payroll depends on whether the assistant comes in that day. To put it bluntly, the assistant is the boss’s son’s girlfriend. They’re all insiders—how could she possibly not help him?
The boss asks employees to pay expenses for him upfront and thinks it’s only natural. If an employee refuses to help, he says, “It’s just a small amount of money, isn’t it?” Then the salary is also just a small amount of money, so why not pay it? Is your company having cash-flow problems?
None
1. High turnover: Everyone from the entry-level employees to the managers is inexperienced and lacks the ability to lead people.
2. No work procedures: Sending ZIP files via Skype—how advanced. The boss loves making surprise demands, showing up out of nowhere and asking for things before the end of the workday.
3. The boss doesn’t even know how to press F5: When a webpage is missing images, he immediately yells at us, only to find out that he himself hadn’t refreshed it. This has happened countless times.
4. The boss is always in a hurry: He keeps using twenty-year-old products to take on new projects. Even routine maintenance is already a huge headache, yet he still wants major changes and rush jobs. Of course the result is terrible. Even on holidays, you have to worry that the boss will get angry. When problems arise, the departments just push responsibility back and forth.
5. Your salary will evaporate: Bonuses are deducted all the time. The only reason I wasn’t docked this month was thanks to the Powerpuff Girls’ efforts.
6. Bonuses for the three major holidays: They give out mooncakes and rice dumplings for the three major holidays. How generous.
7. The junior boss: His Chinese is terrible, and you can’t understand a word he says. When you ask him a question, he just touches his mole and talks in circles with you. He can barely use Word, yet he dares to be a PM, and spends all day wandering around the office doing nothing. Besides yelling at employees, all he does is have sex with his girlfriend in the office.
8. Managers: As long as you’ve been here for half a year and are shameless enough to flatter the boss, you can get promoted. The promotion path is really simple and transparent.
If you want to come here to waste your life, you’re welcome. The boss likes keeping people around to serve as his playthings.
To put it bluntly, this company is in the gambling business. The boss only wants to be emperor; employees who speak honestly get scolded. He has no intention of listening to employees’ suggestions. He treats clients like employees and gives orders. Every time, he only wants to hear what he wants to hear. When he doesn’t understand, all he can say is, “You don’t understand. I’m using my money to have you do what I tell you to do.” Whether there’s a reason or not, he only threatens to dock your pay. As for saying he’ll give you a good salary, all I can say is that it’s even less believable than the government’s promise to raise the minimum wage to 22K. (If he doesn’t dock your pay, you’re expected to thank him.) His son is just as awful as the boss. They only want to recruit inexperienced college students because they’re easier to deceive. (The turnover rate is extremely high; they never consider what the problem is, only saying that anyone who doesn’t stay long has no future.) Every day, they expect people to flatter them. Both father and son have prince syndrome and think they’re the best. The whole industry is laughing at them. All I can say is, if you’re coming in, congratulations—you’ve arrived at a psychiatric hospital. The boss is a patient with prince syndrome. I suggest you escape from this deadly asylum.
