The work is highly rewarding; seeing your own designs displayed in busy urban areas makes you feel very proud.
The colleagues in the design department are very nice, and whenever you need help, they explain things to you patiently.
(But after reading the employment experiences below, I learned that most of those old-timers seem to have left, leaving mostly fresh recruits to bear the brunt of the workload.)
Sometimes there are too many projects,
and when a regular client suddenly inserts an urgent order, you end up working overtime until very late.
For a while, I worked until three in the morning for several consecutive days.
But being late the next day still resulted in a pay deduction, and there was no overtime pay.
Officially, you can apply for overtime pay, but your application must have a “sufficient” reason.
The design director and HR manager have to sign off before you will receive overtime pay; in reality, no one applies.
What left the deepest impression on me was the Double Tenth long weekend.
The boss came down personally and said that we absolutely had to work overtime to finish the inserted orders, and that we shouldn’t worry about overtime pay.
So while watching my friends go out during the consecutive holidays, I still finished the urgent orders.
But when that month’s salary was paid, I found that for those days of overtime, I had only received a NT$50 meal allowance (per day).
During design reviews, the company selects relatively outstanding designers to provide bonuses to the designers.
But once, even though another designer had been selected in the review,
after the building was completed, it was my own work that I saw displayed.
It felt terrible.
You absolutely must not offend the HR manager; he is a smiling tiger.
If he takes a dislike to you, he will use all kinds of excuses to drive you out.
The chairman also trusts the HR manager 100%.
No matter how absurd the reason, the chairman will believe him.

This was quite a long time ago. At the time, I saw an opening for a lighting designer and thought it seemed pretty interesting, so I submitted my résumé. The design deputy manager who interviewed me was rather... demanding: applicants were required to bring their own résumé, and if you didn't, you would be given a hard time. But if you hadn't even looked at the applicant's résumé, why invite them to an interview in the first place? It was simply a waste of both parties' time. The interview process also included a test, wasting one or two hours of interview time. In the end, I was told that as long as you had never worked as a lighting designer, you were considered inexperienced, and the starting salary for inexperienced applicants was NT$23,000–25,000. There was also no overtime pay.
The environment is clean, and employees get time off when they have their period.
1. Employees come and go constantly. In the design department, staying for one year counts as being senior (the other two are veterans); everyone else is a young, freshly graduated new hire.
2. There is no overtime pay during the first six months.
3. The job description differs significantly from the actual work.
4. Although the stated end time is 18:00, basically no one ever leaves work on time.
5. Recent graduates who want to gain experience are welcome to join.
6. Hiring depends on the supervisor's impression, and whether you can make it through probably depends on fate. P.S. The female supervisor likes people who keep asking questions, so it is best to be lively and talkative. If you are shy and introverted, even if you are hired, you will be called in for a meeting before long.
7. Most of the company's employees have gastrointestinal problems. I hope everyone stays healthy.

They took my résumé but still asked basic questions that were already answered on it. They clearly hadn’t read it and showed no respect for job seekers.
They also require driving to make deliveries. Is your company hiring a warehouse clerk or a delivery driver?
Finally, if I’m not the talent you’re looking for, please communicate that clearly with HR instead of criticizing the job seeker once they arrive, as if you feel your time has been wasted. Job seekers’ time is time too.
Lastly, clearly state the recruitment requirements and don’t conceal the job duties. Also, review the job seeker’s résumé first before deciding whether to invite them to an interview. Don’t just take a scattershot approach.
