The PM blindly shifts blame. Here, the PM has a great deal of power: if the PM says you are wrong, then you are wrong. If you are the PM’s favorite or someone the PM likes, the PM will still cover for you even if you do something poorly. The manager is the same as the PM.
Things can be dragged out for a long time—up to half a year at most. Sometimes, they do not even say how something will be handled until just a few hours before a decision has to be finalized. They make a point of catching you off guard.
Senior colleagues/managers will hijack your freedom, including what you work on, what you eat, and whom you talk to and interact with. Even more seriously, they may go as far as controlling your time after work.
Here, it is basically impossible to do what you want. The manager has to control everything. As soon as you fail to do what the manager has in mind or behave differently from the manager (for example, the manager tells you to bully a colleague, not associate with that colleague, or not eat or work with the manager during commuting hours or at lunchtime), the manager will give you a look that tells you what to expect, then start psychologically manipulating you into believing that you must do these things or there will be irreversible consequences. On the surface, the manager still pretends to be open-minded: “You can do anything; choose freely.” In reality, if you truly believe what the manager says, you will be repeatedly bullied and smeared in the workplace.
Employees have complained many times, but nothing has improved. I have also seen quite a few colleagues forced out. Here, you cannot complain or refuse; otherwise, they will make it impossible for you to stay. It is truly a disappointing work environment.
