Cons

1. There used to be snacks and drinks, but later they said it was for the sake of health, so they became a small portion of snacks and drinks. These were replaced with quarterly birthday celebration meals, but sometimes the meals are fried chicken cutlets, McDonald’s, and waffles. So it’s unclear what the original health-related reason was. Employees in various departments often have to rack their brains and do a lot of unpaid work beyond the scope of projects and plans, and in the afternoon there aren’t even small snacks and drinks. In any case, the benefits keep changing. The company rented out an entire movie theater, but even the theater location was communicated incorrectly = =

2. A company that develops products and handles projects, yet there are pitifully few people in design and product. The project staff can be counted on one hand—and there could be even fewer. The managers above are always telling people to deal with this person or that person, spreading information all over the place, with the focus always on personnel matters. They simply keep endlessly magnifying every employee’s shortcomings, so as long as you are well-connected, you don’t actually have to work. If you don’t want to work, you can join this company—it’s pretty easy to get by XD

3. Doing unpaid work that doesn’t fit the projects and plans is an everyday occurrence, because the people in the業O department do no planning. They keep endlessly asking everyone to provide information and details about new bids. She wants to win contracts, making it sound as if they were billion-dollar projects, and everyone in each department has to stop their own business and work just to help her. But often it’s all thunder and little rain. The instructions she gives are such that even she doesn’t know what she wants; she just throws out one sentence: “Give me everything.” So does she really finish looking through all the information???? The key point is that long after you provide it, she will ask everyone for it again. Every time a new group of employees arrives, she asks for it again, even though she already has the files. This endless unpaid work is the real source of increased costs. She wants to gloss over every item, and when costs ultimately exceed the budget, she says it was planned by the研O department. She also teaches each team in the研O department how to work. Once something goes wrong, she starts blaming current events, timing, the environment, and politics, and in the end dumps the mess on the研O department to clean up.

5. Likes holding meetings that are formally organized but have no purpose or objective. The minutes for every meeting must be produced within 24 hours, regardless of whether you are traveling for work the next day, taking leave, or it’s a holiday. Meeting minutes are treated as being on the same level as the Constitution: all work at hand must be put aside, even if you have an emergency.

6. Business trips are another story. The行O department stubbornly explains that they simply won’t let you apply, and even says it must be handled according to the travel-management regulations for government agencies. They make things difficult in every possible way, as if public funds were going to be used and the foundations of the country were at stake. The rules provide NT$4 per kilometer for riding a motorcycle and NT$5 per kilometer for driving a car. These rates were set several years ago; the only thing that hasn’t changed is this.

7. All kinds of bizarre activities: quarterly awards for outstanding employees and teams, although it’s unclear how they are defined. There are also sports activities, but they take place after working hours. Later there are lunch gatherings with the administrative department, but you have to pay for yourself. Despite saying participation is voluntary, they will still make sarcastic remarks about you if you don’t go. Also, in 2026 there was no year-end banquet or spring dinner, and no notice was given; then they handed out a NT$100 red envelope on the first day back at work. Anyway, it gets weirder every year.
