The hardware team regularly works overtime. There are people who voluntarily come in on weekdays and Saturdays. Apparently, the rate is NT$200 per hour. Recently, everything was moved back to the Wugu site, so the most senior people have returned to Wugu. Weekly meetings are held regularly. Many people have no idea what they are doing, but their weekly reports are longer than annual reports. There are also people who doze off all the time, and people who can make more than 40 trips a day just to get water or use the restroom. The hardware team is young, and the atmosphere is good. People often gather to chat and relax, but whether anyone is actually working is a matter of opinion. The firmware department has only three people: a highly capable but emotionally volatile manager who cannot manage people, likes doing his own thing, and does not like communicating with anyone unless it is work-related; a long-time employee who often looks for people to chat with; and a newcomer who has been there for two years but no one knows what they do. The company does not adjust salaries, and bonuses are handed out depending on the mood. Many people know how to slack off, while a few people bury themselves in work—few enough to count on one hand.
Low pay, little work, and close to home. Except for the hardware team, there is no overtime. Fixed salaries are not adjusted. At present, it appears that only the hardware department, which has people who know how to lead, offers opportunities to learn; the other departments probably make that difficult. New employees are required to perform at the annual party.
