Video interview

Position applied for: Warehouse Assistant

Interview content: Self-introduction, willingness to work overtime, expected salary, and a brief discussion of previous work experience.

I was hired on the same day as the interview.

There is a dedicated indoor parking space.

The air conditioning is wonderfully cool.

You can take your monthly menstrual leave in full;

it’s easy to take time off when you don’t feel like coming to work,

and you can turn off notifications and keep sleeping.

Most colleagues are easy to get along with.

When there’s nothing to do, just stick labels on things and scroll on your phone;

treat the company like a shopping mall and stroll around,

and chat casually whenever you run into a colleague.

There are tons of returned items you can take for free.

Shampoo and body wash are quite handy to bring home for scrubbing the toilet.

Cons

When I joined in 2024, I was paid the minimum wage. The salary structure was:

Base salary 24,000 + meal allowance 3,000 + perfect-attendance bonus 1,000 = 28,000.

In 2025, the government raised the minimum wage to 28,590,

but employees still had to remind HR themselves: “Shouldn’t our salaries be adjusted?”

After the adjustment:

Base salary 24,590 + meal allowance 3,000 + perfect-attendance bonus 1,000 = 28,590.

Later, the Labor Bureau confirmed that this salary structure was problematic.

After communicating with HR three times in total, I finally got back the money I should have been paid in the first place.

And it wasn’t a 1,000 perfect-attendance bonus—it was calculated based on one day’s wages.

The company was reported and fined.

20,000.

The fine was hardly painful,

but employees still had to spend their own time chasing the money that belonged to them.

The year-end bonus was cut in half outright.

The three holiday bonuses were changed from cash to company vouchers.

Before I resigned, my birthday and Dragon Boat Festival bonuses totaled 8,000,

but, boss, I just wanted cash.

Employees were forced to buy company products,

and could only pick through whatever was left over from sales.

When employee benefits are taken to this extent,

they aren’t benefits—they’re a way to help the company clear out its inventory.

Orders are shipped out and then returned;

with all this back-and-forth, are we actually making money,

or just helping the logistics company boost its performance figures?

We had to write work journals every day.

No performance reviews, no follow-up, and no one read them.

In the end, their most practical use

was as padding under lunch boxes.

I don’t know the senior managers well,

but I’m genuinely grateful to you.

In such a short time,

you let me witness a company’s incompetence, darkness, stinginess, and lack of logic.

The most absurd part is that

even though the company has been getting worse and worse,

no one has thought about where the problem actually lies.

A bad company isn’t frightening.

What’s frightening is that the people with the most power and the highest salaries

never have any self-awareness.

Whether the company gets worse and worse

really isn’t decided by the employees.

It’s decided single-handedly by the people sitting at the top.

There are clearly so many good points that make people reluctant to leave,

yet somehow the company can still drive people to the point where they want to leave anyway.

That’s the most infuriating part.
