I have been working at this company for more than six months, and the stress has honestly become almost unbearable. During the interview, I was told that there would be no overtime and that I would not need to take work home. In reality, messages on weekends and late at night have never stopped. If you do not want to receive messages, you have to pay for and arrange your own company phone, including both the number and the handset. If you do not reply in the client group chat, the business team will put you under pressure on Monday.

There is absolutely no comprehensive training system or up-to-date SOP in the department. When I first joined, my manager said I could ask him anything. He was very approachable at first, but I later discovered that his patience disappears after you ask a few questions. He would even suddenly lose his temper and raise his voice during meetings, often leaving people completely confused. It felt like everyone could only cautiously gauge his mood. The manager always acted as though, “What is there not to understand?” When I turned to my colleagues for help, they did not have any consistent answers either. In the end, I could only grit my teeth and do the work, and the result was that I got criticized no matter how I did it.

Many times, I clearly followed the materials provided by my manager for reference, only to be accused afterward of doing things recklessly. The standards changed so frequently that it was impossible to know how to proceed. Moreover, the manager seemed to apply a double standard to the rules: things required of subordinates could be handled casually for the sake of convenience when it involved his own clients, and he would even cut in line privately. As long as he met his own targets, he would keep pressuring everyone who had not met theirs.

The salary adjustment system is extremely opaque. According to my colleagues, the department has no regular pay raises. The manager usually cites a bonus after one year as a reason. That so-called one-year bonus works out to only a few hundred dollars per month—and it is not even guaranteed.

After several months, I felt that this manager did not seem willing to advocate for the benefits that team members should receive.

Not to mention the workplace convention of “bringing gifts when you travel abroad.” The manager avoids discussing it when he travels overseas himself. This kind of culture is very difficult to adapt to.

This position requires dealing with all of this emotional management every day, while also following the manager in taking on extra work from other departments. I really feel that my energy is being drained for nothing.

How do those who have been here for so long survive in this kind of environment? I felt that the longer I stayed, the more he disliked and belittled me, so I left as quickly as I could.

I will not name anyone… those who know, know… haha.

All I can say is that people who take website-related positions here need to endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens, www
