To report back, I interviewed for a mechanical engineer position at a company offering 36K. The supervisor hesitated, perhaps thinking it was too high. Luckily, the supervisor didn’t think I was a good fit and I wasn’t hired. I interviewed at other companies in similar electronics-related roles; the minimum during the probationary period was 43K, with a guaranteed year-end bonus equivalent to two months’ salary. In the end, I went to a company offering 14 days of annual leave, 50K, a two-month year-end bonus, and bonuses equivalent to one month’s salary on each of the three traditional festivals.
There are very few engineer positions at technology companies in the electronics industry that pay 36K nowadays, and an annual salary below 14 months’ pay is low. You might consider removing the word “technology” and switching to a traditional industry; the benefits and overall standards would be more suitable.
