Broadening my horizons: I learned what a toxic workplace is like. In over a decade of working, this was the first time I couldn’t last even two months. I’d rather go hungry than stay and had to leave.
(1) The first interview is a video interview. The second is an in-person interview at the company with the supervisor and the highest-ranking manager in the department. The third is RC! If you do not accept RC, you will not be hired.
(2) There is a major discrepancy between the job description and the actual situation.
(3) One person is expected to do the work of multiple people, with compensation that is not proportional.
(4) Overtime will absolutely never happen because employees are required to clock out before 6:30 p.m. The iron gate on that floor is locked at 7:00 p.m.
(4) Even if you cannot finish your work, you cannot take it home to handle it because the computer cannot be used. When I asked the supervisor, they said the company was afraid of computer viruses and would not open the VPN. Yet on typhoon days, employees are still required to WFH... There are no typhoon days off.
(5) Various strange militarized requirements: no slippers or sandals; mobile phones cannot be carried and must be left on the desk!; even if people are getting off on every floor, you have to stay in the elevator until a nearby floor and then take the stairs up or down; you cannot wash your boxed lunch at the company.
(6) Workplace bullying is severe, yet the company claims to be a “happy enterprise.”
