1. They only recruit young people because they’re easy to deceive and susceptible to manipulation.
2. People with their own opinions are not welcome here. It’s just like Squid Game: if you don’t follow the company’s rules and ideas, you’ll be “taken out.”
3. If you’re planning to have children, please don’t set foot in this hell. They will kill your child regardless of how many months pregnant you are.
(Story: An employee—also my colleague—was asked to climb stairs and carry heavy items onto shelves during her pregnancy. When she refused, a manager surnamed Lin even said, “How are we supposed to count you as one unit of manpower then?” Afterward, the employee was asked to voluntarily resign once her pregnancy became apparent; otherwise, she would affect the company’s image at the store. She was even told to stand up when sitting in the kitchen using company equipment. In addition, this company has another cloud-based store that only serves delivery and online-reservation customers and is relatively less demanding, yet they still refused to let employees transfer there. Under this pressure, the employee lost her baby. Manager Lin then went around claiming that the employee had been paid severance, when in fact she didn’t receive a penny. There was no apology either. The company also suppressed the matter to protect Manager Lin. After the Labor Bureau closed the case, a senior headquarters executive even called our injured pregnant colleague, with an attitude of, “What can you do to me? What do you want?”
4. People who want to use the restroom in peace should stay away. The two restrooms are shared with customers, and there is no employee restroom. If you need to go, you have to queue with a bunch of customers, build rapport with them, and stare at each other. Of course, if you want to use the restroom properly, customers outside will keep knocking on the door!
5. If you want to eat in peace, please don’t come here either. The kitchen doesn’t even have an exhaust fan, so you can enjoy a sauna while eating—never experienced that before, right? Super cool~ It’ll let you eat without gaining weight! You also have to keep asking coworkers to let you pass back and forth while eating. Maybe they’re trying to help us digest better!
6. New employees can learn a lot very quickly. Manager Lin once served as a store manager, but surprisingly, when asked three questions, they didn’t know the answer to any of them—even when making an extra mousse, they had to ask other employees where to put it. It makes you wonder how they managed to hold this position. They also dump everything on others. I don’t think they actually don’t know how—surely they’re testing us! Hey~ I’m testing you~
7. If your family is wealthy and you just want to experience working in the service industry, welcome. You won’t receive the basic benefits normally given on the three major holidays, but anything that goes wrong will be your fault.
8. People who intend to take annual leave shouldn’t come. They’ll tell you to give one month’s advance notice, and whether you can actually take the leave will depend on staffing that day. If there aren’t enough people, you can’t take it. Then, when you come to work, you’ll see the store manager sitting in the customer seating area using a computer (very busy—opening Line and constantly replying, and also busy discussing things with ChatGPT). You won’t even have the heart to interrupt them!
9. If you like eating “pies,” you can come! There are lots of big pies to eat. If you don’t eat them, they’ll even invite you to a private meeting and ask you to eat more pies.
10. If you don’t want to become a store manager, don’t come. Once you reach the assistant manager position, you have to start learning everything involved in being a store manager. If you’re even slightly inattentive, you’ll hear the store manager say: “My business is your business!” Wow~ You get the store manager’s salary while I do the work for you—yet the moment you complain, you’ll hear: “You have to stand on the company’s side. You have to stand straight, not crooked!”
That’s all for now. There’s too much to type, and my hands are getting sore. If you have these preferences, feel free to give it a try; if you don’t have much of a life expectancy, you can skip it for now. The above is everything I personally saw during my three years working at this store. Everyone can make their own judgment!
