1. The job position is unclear, and HR will not explain the job responsibilities to you in detail. There is a very good chance they do not know themselves.

2. Each business unit is like a small startup, yet they give you very little time. If the person in charge cannot find a way to produce results quickly, you can expect to suffer the consequences together.

3. They start laying people off around the end of each year, causing the next person who comes in to take on even more firefighting work. If they cannot finish it, they replace that person again the following year—a vicious cycle.

4. The managers all try to appear very Westernized, with two out of every three sentences in English, but their management style still exploits employees in the typical Taiwanese way.

5. Unless you are one of Chairman Chang’s favorites, you constantly have to worry about being called into HR’s little black room. The pressure is enormous, and you will not want to stay here for very long.
