廣大工業股份有限公司
Pros

1. The warehouse clerk’s salary is just a little higher than the minimum wage under the Labor Standards Act. The base salary is 31,000, excluding anything else—is that really an advantage?!

2. Perfect-attendance bonus, year-end bonus, Labor Day bonus, lunch provided, and company uniforms.

3. They initially said there was air conditioning, but I only found out after I went there that it was available only in the office; there was none in the warehouse.

Cons

1. The interviewer wasn’t very clear about the responsibilities of the position being applied for and would even forget the company’s benefits and compensation details. Pretty strange...

2. You may need to move items weighing more than 20 kilograms (I also didn’t find out I’d have to move things that heavy until my first day). According to the supervisor, it was a one-person operation! It doesn’t seem like a company that values teamwork.

3. As for the probationary-period contract, all benefits are available only after passing the probationary period. If the company decides you aren’t suitable and fires you, it also won’t pay severance. When I raised this concern, HR just smiled and said that our contract was only something written on paper, and that if they actually terminated someone, they would follow the regulations. I don’t know whether “the regulations” here means the Labor Standards Act or the contract we signed. They’re just playing word games. It feels like signing a seemingly unequal contract at this kind of company would make any future disputes very troublesome.

4. I was hired on the spot during the interview. On my first day, I was asked to sign a probationary-period contract and a consent form for rotation between departments. After reading them, I wanted to leave immediately, but HR acted as if they desperately needed to fill a quota and tried hard to persuade me to stay. They even went to get the warehouse supervisor to have a detailed talk with me. They were so short-staffed that I found their behavior somewhat ridiculous. It’s also a family business. Traditional industry + family business—let’s just say, choose carefully!
