I originally thought the previous employees’ reviews reflected experiences from the past, but after several years, I was surprised to find that the situation remains unchanged. Many people assume that only Taiwanese managers can cause problems, but the American boss turned out to be even more outrageous—this is one of the few American companies I have worked for where I was genuinely surprised.

The company has extremely little trust in its employees. From installing surveillance cameras in the office to comprehensively monitoring messaging software and email systems, it is difficult to believe that this culture comes from an American company. The turnover rate is abnormally high—not only in the Taiwan office but also in overseas branches. The reasons largely stem from the management’s lack of professionalism, which leads to frequent interference with project plans and copywriting direction. When clients ultimately raise questions, responsibility is then shifted onto frontline employees.

I originally thought that my many years of professional experience had exposed me to all kinds of challenges, but this experience still gave me a new understanding of the diversity of “corporate culture.” A word of advice for anyone considering joining in the future: the working-hours system and basic benefits such as compensatory leave and overtime pay are unclear here. Even when you work with U.S. clients in meetings late at night, you are still expected to show up at the office on time. On the surface, the company claims to offer flexible working hours, but in practice, you are monitored everywhere. If you are sensitive to workplace culture or place importance on fair treatment, I recommend considering this carefully.
