Normal working hours, with very little overtime.
The work is simple and doesn’t require much thought.
The supervisor rarely comes by.
This is a job at an egg farm somewhere in northern Taiwan. Because the supervisor usually rarely comes in, the on-site team leader is in charge. Also, because the workforce is overwhelmingly female (the team leader is a woman as well), whenever a man joins, he is assigned all the tasks that require heavy lifting. In addition, most of the workers are middle-aged or older, so they often use their seniority to their advantage. The machines and floors must be cleaned before the end of every workday. Broken eggs and egg liquid are splattered all over the floor, creating a disgusting, unpleasant, fishy smell. The same work is performed every day. Anyone considering this job should be mentally prepared: this is a workplace involving simple tasks, so you do not need to think much, but for that very reason, most coworkers talk about mundane household matters and everyday trivialities. Young people are advised not to come here.
