The workload is like a burst of rain—sometimes there’s a lot to do, and sometimes it’s so slow you end up scrolling on your phone. The plant manager is essentially the branch manager. Whenever you hear “the company has decided,” unless there’s an official written notice, 99% of the time it’s actually the plant manager’s decision.
New technicians are trained only by senior technicians through traditional, on-the-job instruction. If you don’t do well, the technician will bluntly chew you out. After maintenance, the senior technician does not perform a final inspection; if there’s a problem after the vehicle is released, you’re screwed. New hires do not receive hourly bonuses during their first three months. Depending on the individual, there may be evening shifts. Basically, the shifts violate labor laws (8 hours + 16 hours on duty + 8 hours of work the next day). If new hires want the money, they can stay; at this company, everything depends on whether you get along with your mentor.
