For outside sales, the company provides a company car and a corporate credit card. The company enjoys wining and dining.
A small family business that sells bathroom fixtures. One person is expected to do the work of three, so the job relies heavily on sales ability. Employees must memorize the company’s product information and prices, and both office and field staff need to be capable of sales and cold outreach. There is also a great deal of physical labor, as well as driving managers to various cities and counties. Every day, employees must submit reports and spreadsheets explaining that day’s work. They are also often required to stay after work for meetings and discussions. Even when there are no important matters, there are still many meaningless meetings held after hours. Employees are also frequently asked to run personal errands for the boss and are treated like servants. Work often extends beyond regular hours, and there are so many business dinners and social engagements that it is often very late before they finish. The salary is not high, and the performance bonuses are practically worthless. The boss keeps a very close eye on employees: in addition to requiring daily reports, they constantly monitor the surveillance cameras, use a tracking system on company vehicles, and occasionally require employees to submit reflections on their work. Working at this company gives you a firsthand understanding of what it means to have no quality of life and to suffer from post-holiday blues. The pay is also very low. Not recommended!
