To evade the Labor Standards Act, the company requires employees to first fill out an “Overtime Estimate Report” by the end of the preceding month and obtain the general manager’s approval before working overtime; otherwise, the overtime will not be counted for pay. Employees must also fill out a “Voluntary Overtime Application Form,” enabling the company to evade the Labor Standards Act and mislead the government into believing that employees volunteer for overtime. In reality, wages are kept extremely low, so employees have to rely on overtime pay to make up the difference.
When working overtime, no boxed meals or meal allowances are provided.
For leave requests, when they coincide with consecutive holidays (Saturday and Sunday), the general manager must sign and approve them before leave can be taken. If requesting more than two days of leave, employees must also write a report for the general manager’s approval. Annual leave is stipulated by the government; as long as work progress is not affected, the company should not be able to control how I take it. However, the general manager of this company really does reject requests, and employees have to escalate the matter and submit their resignation before approval will be granted.
Salaries are all calculated manually and invariably require five business days to process. When holidays occur, payment is guaranteed to be delayed further; it is never paid on time. The salary system is divided into a responsibility-based system, an overtime-based system, and a monthly payment system in which half is paid monthly and the other half is paid every three months.
