Pros

From an outside observer’s perspective, every department except Marketing seems very harmonious.

Cons

So many people have left; after thinking it over, I still feel I should help save those considering applying for an interview.

A manager joined the Marketing Department who constantly emphasizes having worked at a large advertising agency that supposedly had foreign investment. Since her (or his) arrival, team members have been driven away one by one. The entire department has left since she (or he) came, resulting in a complete turnover. Newcomers are driven away as well, leaving only interns struggling to hold things together. This manager likes speaking to people in a top-down manner and is also a control freak. You’d better not express any opinions or suggest alternative ways of doing things after she (or he) has spoken, or you’ll be seen as opposing her (or him). At work, she (or he) deliberately nitpicks. If even one aspect of your working method does not follow her (or his) steps, it will be scrutinized and blown out of proportion. When a project comes in, she (or he) won’t discuss it or explain much to you, but will leave you to fend for yourself. If you ask her (or him) more questions, be mentally prepared to be met with sarcastic remarks. She (or he) dislikes interacting with others but tries very hard to pretend to be approachable; however, the smile does not reach her (or his) eyes, and what she (or he) says often leaves everyone sitting in awkward silence. If you stand up one minute early during lunch to go steam your lunchbox, expect to be summoned and reprimanded. The same goes for arriving late to work. There are far too many examples to list; this is all I can do to help.

After all, it is a traditional manufacturing company, so working hours are very rigid, and lunch breaks are also strictly timed. If you arrive five minutes late for work, you are considered late, must take leave, and will have your pay deducted. All kinds of rules are rigidly enforced. During working hours, the office atmosphere is so quiet and devoid of interaction that you can hear a pin drop.
