It seems to be a fairly large company

I had one interview. During the initial phone call, the HR contact made the opportunity sound incredibly promising. After the interview, I spoke with two managers; the discussion was fairly ordinary, though the senior manager seemed satisfied. The next day, HR contacted me promptly, implying that everything was fine and began confirming the salary. After I provided the information, they also said there was no problem, and that the process would be confirmed once they returned from the long holiday.

Then the nightmare began. After waiting for more than a week, I was confused and emailed to ask about it. They suddenly said they were still continuing to interview candidates, as if everything they had said verbally before meant nothing. They kept refusing to give me an answer, and finally told me that they would proactively notify me once there was a result. After waiting a full month, I discovered that the job posting had been removed. I emailed again to ask, only to be told that they had already found someone. Is this really an acceptable way to conduct business? Do they really consider the applicant’s time worthless?
