It feels like a fairly large company.
I had one interview. During the initial phone call, the HR contact made the position sound absolutely wonderful. After the interview, I spoke with two managers; the discussion was fairly ordinary, though the senior manager seemed satisfied. The next day, HR contacted me promptly, implying that everything was fine, and began confirming the salary. After I provided the information, they also said there was no problem, and that the process would be finalized after the holiday weekend.
Then the nightmare began. After waiting for more than a week, I felt confused and emailed to ask about it. They suddenly said they were still continuing with the interviews, as if everything they had said verbally before meant nothing. They then kept refusing to give me an answer. Finally, they told me that they would notify me proactively once there was a result. I waited a full month, only to discover that the job posting had been removed. When I emailed again to ask, they finally said they had already found someone. Is this really an acceptable way to handle things? Do they consider the applicant’s time worthless?
