New facilities, clean and attractive, spacious, and comfortable offices.
They compete to see who can be louder, insisting on winning the argument before anything else.
Or they remain silent and claim not to know anything, waiting to watch you make a mistake. Who knows how the process is supposed to work? Apart from the long-serving deadwood, there is a constant turnover of supporting characters. The supporting characters exist merely to highlight the importance of the deadwood.
The Sales Department is even more entertaining. Newcomers have to know how to curry favor with influential people; otherwise, no one will teach you. They just throw out, “Wasn’t this covered in the training? Look it up yourself.” How much can be taught in a half-day training session that is rushed through just once? Often, they themselves do not know much either.
Newcomers have to learn to constantly show loyalty to the slightly overweight manager and win her favor. Otherwise, she will deliberately fail to explain things clearly or respond, and may also incite others to block you, to demonstrate her managerial power.
Colleagues may also try to compete for the position of second-in-command and do indescribable things. Unless you are good at internal power struggles, I advise you to leave. Life is short; don’t get stuck in the mud!
