Pros

Pros? If you're just scraping by, with no thoughts, prospects, or plans for the future, it's actually pretty decent.

Whether you get along with your colleagues depends on whether you're on the same wavelength. If you are, you can go out together, sing karaoke, eat, and egg the boss on to go out and have fun.

The company's snack cabinet and coffee machine have never been empty. Costco foods and new products are always available.

The boss cares about food, so the restaurants chosen for company gatherings are basically never too bad (about three or more times a year).

Cons

High salary on paper, low actual pay. Looking back at the responses from other people before, they were all true—it has just become increasingly less exaggerated.

The salary structure is the basic salary (the statutory minimum wage) + a “nutrition allowance” + a position allowance, adding up to the salary you requested.

You have to check your pay slip yourself through the cooperating bank's online banking portal (and it may not be provided on time—you have to chase the relevant staff yourself).

It's common for one person to take on several roles. If you're capable, you'll simply be given even more work.

But if you understand how to survive in the office, you'll have an easy time (easy enough to drink alcohol at work).

Every day, everyone has to take turns being the person on duty. Although the boss has purchased equipment such as a robot vacuum, greatly reducing cleaning time, cleaning the toilets and chasing the garbage truck are still required. The office also has to be thoroughly cleaned once a week (and again during the Lunar New Year).

Then, every month, everyone in the company has to go downstairs to conduct a full inventory.

If, unfortunately, one of the stores operated by the company is suddenly short-staffed, you may very well be sent there to cover the vacant shift.

Even store staff may be required to help by acting as the company's Uber, delivering things to customers, and so on.

Store staff also have to handle inventory counts and reconciliation discrepancies, which often aren't brought up until a month later, when you're asked why there are discrepancies, etc. (Then they'll say your pay is going to be deducted, and so on.)

The boss's view of employees is: I pay employees, so employees should find ways to solve problems for me and make money for me. If employees have problems with customers or with one another, that's their problem; they should find a way to resolve them on their own.

As mentioned above, the boss gives employees a lot of freedom to do what they want, but when something goes wrong, employees are usually responsible for it themselves.

In recent years, the boss has had less and less need for sales work, believing that having sales staff visit stores isn't very effective. Travel expenses, gas subsidies, and the like are kept to a very “ideal”—overly precise—level.

BTW, working hours are 09:00–18:00. If you work overtime, overtime starts counting after 19:00; 18:00–19:00 is mealtime and does not count as overtime. Overtime on holidays can only be exchanged for compensatory time off; overtime pay cannot be requested. During business trips on holidays, noon (12:00–13:00) and 18:00–19:00 are both considered mealtimes and cannot count as overtime. (You have a sense of responsibility and have worked hard, but if you didn't go eat, that's your business. You can still try applying and see whether the boss will approve those hours.)
