Salary. The benefits are fairly good by Hualien standards.
Basic labor insurance, national health insurance, 6% pension contribution, annual leave, year-end bonus, and bonuses for the three major festivals.
The salary is around NT$35,000.
The only advantage is that the company’s systems are not well established.
The boss likes to make grand promises and take advantage of small things, and favors a supervisor with 30 years of seniority who likes to cause trouble.
(Drivers are made to take back defective products that should be discarded. After removing the packaging, employees at the fruit market are asked to sell them individually. Alternatively, products made from soybeans, such as tofu and tofu pudding, are taken out of the cold storage and packaged at room temperature outside the storage area, with complete disregard for food storage conditions.)
The company specializes in the distribution of fresh, frozen, and chilled foods, processed-food distribution, delivery to sales channels, and related businesses. No one cares about or follows the work environment requirements and precautions that should be observed.
Office staff, warehouse personnel, and drivers are unwilling to make changes to improve work efficiency.
The vast majority of the drivers (except for two or three) are extremely selfish, have poor work habits, and cooperate poorly.
Warehouse personnel (most of them are just slacking off and drifting along; quite often they drag things out and wait for others to help).
The company has significant food-safety problems. It allows order-picking staff and drivers to turn off the cold-storage power while handling and checking goods, without closing the storage doors during the process—in fact, sometimes leaving them wide open—and pays no attention whatsoever to the temperature of the storage environment.
