Salary. Benefits are fairly good for Hualien.
Basic labor insurance, health insurance, 6% pension contribution, annual leave, year-end bonus, and bonuses for the three major traditional festivals.
Salary is around NT$35,000.
The advantage is that the company’s systems are not well established.
The boss likes to make empty promises and take advantage of small opportunities, while favoring a supervisor with 30 years of seniority who likes to cause trouble.
(Drivers are instructed to bring back defective products that should have been scrapped. After removing the packaging, colleagues in the fruit market are required to sell them individually. Otherwise, products such as tofu and tofu pudding are taken out of the freezer and packaged at room temperature outside the storage area, with no concern whatsoever for proper food-storage conditions.)
The company specializes in the distribution of processed foods, including fresh products requiring soaking, frozen and refrigerated goods, as well as delivery services through various channels. Nobody cares about or follows the required work-environment standards and procedures.
Office staff, warehouse staff, and drivers are unwilling to make changes to improve work efficiency.
The vast majority of drivers (except for two or three) are very selfish, have poor work habits, and are not cooperative.
Warehouse staff (most of them just coast along or drift, and often drag their feet and wait for others to help).
The company has significant food-safety problems. It allows inventory handlers and drivers inspecting goods to turn off the freezer power during handling, leave the freezer door closed improperly—or even leave it wide open—and shows no concern whatsoever for the temperature of the storage environment.
