Pros

Salary. The benefits are fairly good for Hualien.

Basic labor insurance, national health insurance, 6% pension contribution, paid annual leave, year-end bonus, and bonuses for the three major holidays.

Salary is around NT$35,000.

The advantage is that the company’s systems are not well established, so

Cons

The boss likes to make grand promises and take advantage of small opportunities, and favors a supervisor with 30 years of service who likes to cause trouble.

(Drivers are told to bring back defective products that should have been scrapped; after removing the packaging, colleagues at the fruit market are asked to sell them individually. Otherwise, products made from soybeans, such as tofu and douhua, are taken out of the freezer and packaged at room temperature outside the storage area, with complete disregard for the food storage conditions.)

The company specializes in the distribution and delivery of processed foods, including fresh and frozen products, as well as route delivery services. No one pays attention to or follows the required work-environment standards and requirements.

Office staff, warehouse personnel, and drivers are unwilling to make changes to improve work efficiency.

The vast majority of drivers (apart from two or three) are extremely selfish, have poor work habits, and cooperate poorly.

Warehouse personnel (most of them are just getting by or drifting along; quite often they drag things out and wait for others to help).

The company has significant food-safety problems, allowing order-picking staff and drivers to turn off the freezer power while handling products, leave the freezer doors closed improperly—or even leave them wide open—and show no concern whatsoever for the storage temperature.
